    Newbie terrified

That is a question I was asking myself - if I were to generate readings of between 6.5 and 8.5 fairly consistently across a 2 week period, for example, would the odd spike of between 10 and 12 be a problem. If that spike of those numbers were to be a problem, then to what degree? It's not easy...

    Newbie terrified

I am 72yrs old, 6'3'', (firmly believe this has to be taken into account) weighed 17st 7lbs (c. 111kgs) and had bloods review of 60 on 10 May. I had been told prediabetic in 2008 (possibly 2007) and like you did not take a serious look at it. This time told to sort myself out (my expression)...

    Cinnamon

Reading the article I thought it might be an advantage to add to diet, not a silver bullet. One of those better to have than have not type of things. Still haven't added to diet, but, well, maybe.

    Eating out nightmare

Barba Rossa I can relate. One of the mechanisms I have employed is after having eaten (perhaps something 'forbidden') I give more time now for it to hit bottom before starting second course, for example. The more I expand that time gap the easier I find it to be more relaxed about the whole food...

Interesting. Sorry to hear about your loss and problems Jo, but you seem to have a grip on things and haven't lost sight of your future - the very best of luck. I think had this whole T2 thing happened a few years ago (which in reality, it did) I would not have had the resilience to say no to a...

Thank you for your replies. It would seem that my thoughts are following what you suggest. Regarding the 'Magnum incident', I ate that more as a test, with the resultant check showing me how disapproving my wife can actually be with just a look. If you follow a LCHF diet but suddenly fancy a...

Bloods review completed (HBa1C was 60) a couple of weeks ago, result of which Metformin prescribed, started and binned after 2 days - Not going to put up with that. Onto low carb diet. Now the thought occurs: was the Metformin prescribed rather than detail diet, the thinking being that I could...

    Eating out nightmare

Well MrsA2, at the mo' we live in Wales (which has a striking similarity to good auld Fr. in a number of ways) but we are on the move again, no idea where to (which is perculiar), just hope I have enough time to get it done (I am knocking on a bit)!

    Hba1c of 76! Panicking

If my twopenny worth is of any use ............. I had recent slap with bloods result and review. This had me adopting a low(er) carb diet and searching this forum for any info that I could put under my own wing. I found that the contributions from the forum members was enormously positive and...

    Eating out nightmare

Unfortunately the days of being able to attend a really decent restaurant are few and far between, and frankly I have yet to find one within 30 mile radius of home and those that I have tried have failed to live up to their hype. Eg; I went for coffee just before the diagnosis slap in the face...

    Eating out nightmare

Eating out has, over time, become frustrating. Now that I have the T2 thingy hanging over me, eating out has become frustrating with an added dose of difficulty with regard to meal decision. Now add to that a lack of places worthy of actually being called a restaurant, we find ourselves saying...

Long-term metformin woes; has anybody experience quitting?

I was prescribed Metformin very recently, 2 tabs of 500 twice a day. After taking them for 2 days I found I was unable to really function on the third day. I scanned posts on this forum to find that I was not alone with this and immediately decided to bin the meds. Started low carb diet that...

    How, I mean, just how??

We seem to be pushing the envelope a little. Naughty Bludnok! For me it has to be apricot jam. Perhaps just a little, a mere smear across the heavenly clouds (I might be dribbling)

    How, I mean, just how??

Yes yes yessss! getting into this now and your suggestions are commensurate with early morning rays of the sun shining through my bedroom window. I have the following plan (with testing as I progress): Starting Monday next - eat one of the cushions of delight for breakfast (not before 10.00am)...
