LCHF diet to help you lose weight, not diabetes

'RCIF' describes what virtually everyone in control of diabetes here actually does, and gets the right message and priorities across. The 'HF' bit of LCHF will always be controversial, and for some health conditions is inadvisable. And there is sometimes a problem that people grasp the HF bit...

Further in the spirit of avoiding 'usandthem', I disagree with zand, but in a friendly way.:)

LCHF diet to help you lose weight, not diabetes

In the spirit of avoiding 'usandthem' I will agree to believe that it was a blip, and was not reported by anyone. I hope this is true

LCHF diet to help you lose weight, not diabetes

Just thought I'd mention that one of my posts on this thread appears to have been deleted (you can still read it on kat100's response -- no.13). A bit curious, given the tone of some of the other contributions. And when other posters complain about their voice not being heard. What a funny...

LCHF diet to help you lose weight, not diabetes

As Loobles says, we all have the right to choose what we do with reality. We don't have the right to choose what that reality is. I choose how much of the low carb diet I follow. I don't have the right to choose whether or not low carb works -- it's pretty obvious that it does.

For any who still think LCHF is a fad ...

    I rest my case.:)

For any who still think LCHF is a fad ...

It is not one-upmanship. I am making a very simple point which I would have thought was obvious.

For any who still think LCHF is a fad ...

Here you are Douglas -- a bit of reading if you are actually interested in finding out about this topic. Let me know when you've finished and want to engage in a proper discussion: Boyer, G. R., ‘Malthus was right after all: poor relief and birth rates in southeastern England’, Journal of...

For any who still think LCHF is a fad ...

Thankyou, @douglas99, you have made my point for me. You don't understand evidence, you don't understand logic, you can't argue. This is about historical demography, about which you know and understand precisely nothing, but the same failings in evidence and logic underlie what you say about...

For any who still think LCHF is a fad ...

What do you mean 'contradictory historical evidence'?? You have presented no evidence to begin with. One of the sources that you quote says something completely different to what you said, as I have just quoted, and you have ignored it. You are mixing up life expectancy at birth and life...

For any who still think LCHF is a fad ...

These count as historical sources???? TV websites?? Sarah Woodbury on Welsh royals?? Wikipedia at least has citations, if only to television programmes, but that says for medieval period 'At age 21, life expectancy was an additional 43 years (total age 64). How does that count as 'mid 40s'???'.[

For any who still think LCHF is a fad ...

In the meantime, @douglas99, could we have a source for 'most adults died in their mid 40's, if they weren't violently killed before, in war or accident' please?

Appointment with diabetic nurse / pain management clinic / hip & knee consultant

I think you did the right thing not testing after the roulade. Some people only like tests when they know they are going to do well. For them, the best incentive to be strict about diet is to get some really good BG readings and then they won't want to spoil the good run (male competitive edge...

Sorry semiphonic, after you've got over the couple of pints maybe read some German history and you might get the decades right:). You're right about Alex Salmond, though

That would explain the 1945 general election, then..... Pure cynicism is as unrealistic as pure optimism -- it doesn't help anyone.

    Flu Jabs

For a bit of context, look at what is happening to the polio vaccine programme in Nigeria. Conspiracy theories about vaccination programmes are becoming rife in the Third World in particular and pose one of the most serious threats to health globally. I'm no expert on flu vaccine -- but I think...

How highly would you recommend eating low carb?

Plenty of very angry and aggressive Buddhist monks in Burma at the moment....

How highly would you recommend eating low carb?

We may have bodies that respond slightly differently, we may have different combinations of health problems, we may have different lifestyles which means that we respond to what diabetes does to us in different ways. I don't think that means that we have different health NEEDS, or that all of us...
