Insulin resistance - does it actually go back to normal?

What if you stop looking at it as an illness. Given the vagaries of nature and the way it works there may well be something we are unaware of that we are benefiting from. I certainly had no real k flu problems. The wife (non d) struggled massively to the point we are slowly reducing her carbs...

Insulin resistance - does it actually go back to normal?

I have taken the view that I have a problem with carbs. So even though I have brought my 1c comfortably back to well inside normal levels I'm not risking t2 and all its associated complications. The changes I have made are life changes, not temporary stop gaps. Many of them quite easy in...

I'm doing very well on low carb. I'm just wondering will my weight just level out.

Same here. Went lchf in October 18. Weight fell off me. Dropped over 3stone in as many months and then the weight loss stopped in January. 75 to 78 kg has been my weight since.

    Coke Zero and KP Peanuts

Bare in mind work stress will push your numbers. I had to navigate the Yorkshire dales in my moffett mounted Artic on thursday, proper James herriot Country, absolutely no place for something 52feet long and and I had eaten nothing since the night before. Got up to a perfectly normal 5 and at...

Not something that crossed my mind. Will keep that in mind. I just randomly use a digit. May try being more specific now.

    No hunger for breakfast

Lchf seems to reduce hunger in a lot of people. Me included. If I'm honest needing to eat is habit. I can easily do up to 48hrs without so long as I have coffee and busy. You could make yourself bulletproof water if you wanted. All your really doing is getting a shot of good quality easily...

    Coke Zero and KP Peanuts

The only absolute certainty with diabetes is that everybody is affected differently and we all have foods we are hyper sensitive to. For me it's bread and alcohol. Booze especially lights me up.

Type 2 Can large portion of meat/protein raise blood sugar?

Potatoes and boiled chicken for dinner. Yuk. Is that choice or necessity? Chop the chicken, pan fry in butter add in some chopped mushrooms and some chopped leek, bit of garlic or chili to taste. A couple of spring onions finely copped and some parmisan as a topping. Nowhere near the...

    Coke Zero and KP Peanuts

You must eat a lot. Kp nuts are only around 6g carb and 100g is quite a sizeable portion. Certainly enough to remove any question of constipation, for me anyway and I'm a peanut fan too. Edited because sometimes I write without turning my brain on,

I have never seen my GP so flabbergasted

Well done. I'm jealous. My surgery was all about doing good things till I dropped from 47 to 31. Then zip. Must have been a rouge reading. They would have a fit with your numbers. With a docs like that and your commitment your on to a big win.

Preventing gum disease pivotal for people with diabetes, says tech firm

Still the biggest problem for me is the fact that the press and public grab on to these kinds of things. Smoking will do far more harm to your teeth than diabetes. Then the standard elephant. The information that will genuinely help diabetics is squashed under the weight of what? Politics...

Preventing gum disease pivotal for people with diabetes, says tech firm

Do people really need telling this stuff. Eating sugar (in any form) and not cleaning properly. That's what causes oral problems. Why does everything today have to be blameable on something or somebody else. When did people stop being responsible for their own lives.

    Pre-diabetic

Same here diet, the only extra exercise was a 15 to 20 min walk in the evening weather permitting so hardly beyond even the most restricted individuals.

    How long does pneumonia last?

Took me a long time to get over bacterial pneumonia. A full week in hospital after collapsing at my doctors. 2 days on pure oxygen and intravenous drugs. My body temp peaked at 44deg (that in its self should be fatal) Wife was allowed by the bed at the worst point as surviving the night was...

Timely thread. Saved me posting the same question. I have an itchy area between my shoulder blades. Really annoying and difficult to get at. No redness, just itchy. Like slight sunburn. Will give some of the stuff suggested a go.

Can anyone help shed some light on what's happening please!l?

Point of interest mashed carrots and sweed will be comparable or only moderately less than regular potato for carbs. So you may well be improving your carb resistance. Lots of little meals may not help. When you eat your body kicks off the insulin to get things working. This will reinforce the...
