Annoying symptom - What can I do about this?

Thank you for your elaborate reply! I really appreciate that you took the time to write it and to try and help me. My follow-up appointment is next week so I hope that I will get some explanation why all this is happening. Now, to be clear, I don't fear the fats, but honestly I find most of...

Annoying symptom - What can I do about this?

To be honest, I don't know. For a while I thought that the amount I am eating right now would allow me to (at least) maintain my weight, but in the last few weeks I am consistently losing. And I do eat regularly, decent sized meals and high calorie food such as rice, baked beans, baked potatoes...

Annoying symptom - What can I do about this?

No problem really, I can handle criticism well, even if you do criticize me I won't take it personally. We are all here to share experiences and to help others :) The thing is, I feel extremely hungry for starchy foods. When I try to eat fattier foods or low carb, I find that I can't eat enough...

Annoying symptom - What can I do about this?

All other illnesess have been ruled out at my last check up. @Lamont D mentioned an UTI, but that has been ruled out as well. Not diabetes, but prediabetes. However, I'm not sure if prediabetics can get the same symptoms as diabetics do. Or if my condition has already progressed. I'm a...

Annoying symptom - What can I do about this?

Thank you for your reply. The reason for experimenting with some low carb meals is just to see how I react to them versus the high carb meals, and at the 2 hour mark the numbers are very similar. For example, I got a reading of 8.7 mmol/l - 2 hours after eating a fatty pork cut with a...

Annoying symptom - What can I do about this?

No matter what I eat, this symptom stays. After high carb, moderate or low carb meals. Just for reference I don't do low carb, I just experiment with some meals here and there.

Annoying symptom - What can I do about this?

Yes I do, fasting numbers (these days are usually higher than 7 and go up to 10 mmol/l) Before meal, and 2 hours after first bite. Depending on how much and what I ate, it ranges from 8 to 10.5 mmol/l. I'm not on medication yet (waiting for my follow-up appointment to discuss this with my doctor)

Annoying symptom - What can I do about this?

I'm literally so tired of going to the bathroom so often. Today I also drank a lot of sparkling water because I'm just craving it (not "normal" tap water but it has to be sparkling and ice cold out of the fridge). I also crave Coke Zero but I try to limit it to one can a day. Didn't do anything...

Can you have prediabetes with low insulin levels?

Yes, I am losing weight (not as dramatically maybe but consistently) over the past couple of months. And all this while eating the same or more! This is the reason why I did bloodwork at the first place

Can you have prediabetes with low insulin levels?

Five hours?? I didn't even know that such test exists. It was fasting insulin, but it wasn't done the same day as the OGTT.

What do you use to record your numbers?

I started on a paper as well. For now at least, it seems convenient enough for me :) My doctor told me to measure fasting, before a meal and 2 hours after a meal. So I guess they will be interested in my numbers

What do you use to record your numbers?

An Excel spreadsheet? A notebook? An app? What is the most convenient way for you? And also, on my next follow-up appointment, how do I show my readings to my doctor?

    Pizza night!

I don't really know about the numbers, but the occassion on itself (and the food of course) was a really enjoyable experience! Especially because this was my first "junk food" meal since my diagnosis.

High blood sugars with strenuous exercise

My FBG goes up even after light walking, like 30 or 45 minutes. I don't do anything really strenuous, not even incline walking. It is so frustrating

    Pizza night!

Not as common but certainly not impossible though

    Pizza night!

I agree I was overthinking it a bit. I ended up eating my favorite pizza anyway and enjoying the night. Maybe not the ideal choice but it is not an everyday occurence :)

What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

So I got up and went for a 30 min. fasted walk today, in hope that I will get a good reading when I come home. Nope. FBG today was 8.1

Can you have prediabetes with low insulin levels?

Thank you for your response. I know I might panic too much but this is all new to me and I'm still confused. And whatever happens, I will be able to cope with it. Not looking for diagnosis, just for similar experiences, it makes me feel less alone if that makes sense. However, I will make sure...

Can you have prediabetes with low insulin levels?

I'm not eating low carb. I'm underweight and I'm consistently eating more, while being extremely hungry all the time, especially for starchy foods like bread and rice. I always crave fluids as well and I pee like 15+ times during the day AND I get up to use the toilet at night at least 2-3...

Can you have prediabetes with low insulin levels?

Until now, I have had a fasting glucose test (which actually showed an unusually high reading) and then my doctor ordered an OGTT and HbA1C, which confirmed prediabetes (impaired fasting glucose and impaired glucose tolerance as well). The insulin levels were on the lower side, but not...
