    Early Days But Progress!

Finished the day on 830 calories yesterday, so very pleased, carbs came in at 63.4, so also a good result. I'm really getting the hang of this I think, I know some people aim at much lower carbs but I'm very much at the experimental stage. I am really chuffed to see my morning FBg's in the 8's (...

    Early Days But Progress!

Thank you so much, I feel the best strategy for me is kind of sneaking up on myself with things. If I make a big declaration of what I'm going to do and how I'm going to do it, it often leads to failure because I set the bar too high and become discouraged. This way, I'm being pretty strict on...

    Early Days But Progress!

Finished dinner at 8pm last night, had to rush out to babysit this morning, so skipped breakfast. Just sipping some iced water and feel fine, so I'm quite impressed with myself! Will have some lunch at 1 but that's still quite a good 17 hour start!

    Early Days But Progress!

Thank you for your support, I feel getting the weight under control is key too and i feel really motivated to get on with it. Im not sure if i could do the fasting but I will definitely bear it mind if the weight loss doesnt go to plan! Well done you on your progress, is that bringing down your...

    Early Days But Progress!

Tbh Terry, im doing that most days, rarely ever eat after 7.30pm and never before 9am. So maybe i should think of going to 10am and then build up longer fasting times depending on how that goes?

    Early Days But Progress!

I haven't tried fasting yet Terry, but may well do in the future. I can see a lot of people find it really effective. You've done brilliantly on it, definitely one to try.

    Early Days But Progress!

Thanks Terry, I am going low carb, but low calorie too as my key aim is to lose weight asap! I struggle a little on the low carb side as I'm not a great meat eater! I'm having more fish though, bit of cheese and steering clear of bread, potatoes, biscuits( my weakness!). So far so good. Sticking...

The important thing is to be as well as possible and if Insulin achieves that then that's the main thing.

    Early Days But Progress!

Wow Frenchie, sounds like you have made some serious impact on your numbers. Are you hoping to get off the insulin or are you happy to have the lower numbers and need to stick with it?

    Early Days But Progress!

Only started serious dieting a week ago, going low carb and fairly low cal. When my Hba1c stood at 63 in April I was seeing FBG's in the 10', 11s and even 12's. This morning, OMG, 8.2!!!!! So chuffed. I know have a long way to go, but I'm thrilled with this improvement.

Hello...and A Bit Of Advice Please

I've started having 6 black cherries, chopped up in 80g of full fat yogurt. Very satisfying and probably much better than my old tea and ginger biscuits breakfast!

Water with lots of ice cubes, sucking on the cubes as they get smaller is really helpful.

Increased Hba1c Reading For Type 2 After Shock Of Death Of Husband

I'm very new to this testing etc.. but from what others have said, stress and shock do effect numbers and I think what you're going through must have an effect. I think that is a very small rise and in the great scheme of things, not worth worrying over, looking after you is whats important now...

A Separate Thread For Type 2 - Diet Only

I think it sounds very sensible! Having tried metformin briefly, diet only seems like a cracking plan.

    Not Really Newly Diagnosed....

As a regular prednisolone taker over the years, I became aware that type 2 maybe lurking in my future. In 2011 I was diagnosed, with 2 fasting blood tests of 7.2. In 2012 an HbA1c came back at 45 and i was told 'no action required'. Life got in the way, I pushed it to the back of my mind and...
