    Professional drivers: 5 to Drive

Well you say awake hypos. I had a sleep hypos and GP informed the dvla of it upon renewal. I provided evidence from the ambulance report, GP was wrong and a nice letter from the DVLA basically called them out on it and pointed them to some learning material. Still took 3months to sort, but DVLA...

    COVID and insulin resistance

Never had covid or the jabs, was insulin resistant long before covid was in a lab.

Resistance, is it a futile battle?

Tresiba lasted if lucky 6hrs with me, so did tail off massively for me, doesn't work the same for everyone. Glargine worked better but that stuff caused other issues. Insulatard may be old school but it works fine for me and the costs work out cheaper than using tresiba as I take a third of the...

Resistance, is it a futile battle?

T1 for 32 years, only insulin resistance i had was when they forced me on to analog insulins, ended up at one point on more than 80u of tresiba comapred to the 28u of insulatard i was taking previously. Same for when i was given apidra and then humalog to go with the tresiba, insulin dosages...

    My Hypo Seizure Story

Sorry to hear of your injuries. I suffered from seizures 24yrs ago, only while asleep. They thought i was having hypoglycemic seizures but after a few nights in hospital they realised i was not dropping lower than 7, so they were not caused by a hypo. I was sent to for a brain scan which showed...

Annoying 'Tap to open the app librelink android' notifications

I started getting this error when moved to the libre 2+, didn;t happen on the old libre 2 sensors. Have since got a new phone and installed the app from the playstore and issue persists. Thinking it was an android issue i added the app to my work iphone and guess what? Issue remains there.

    Took wrong insulin

I did this before, but I was on actrapid at the time. Took 40u of Actrapid instead of 40u Insulatard, as we all know Actrapid has a slow release profile over 8hrs, so wasn't really an issue. Just waited till morning to take Insulatard after eating some carbs to compensate.

    Fasting

What is the active time of the insulin you are on? Is it a rapid, fast or intermediate insulin?

    Intermittent insulin resistance

Took me a while to realise this, quit the job I was at, and after a month, cortisol levels had dropped, and highs settled down.

    Fasting

That is entirely up to you when you test and how often.

    Who do I turn to

Bolus lasts 8hrs in system, basal 18hrs. Different to the analog insulins of 4hrs bolus and upto 24hrs basal( yep apidra does not last 48hrs, if it doess, why inject every 24hrs?) Could always ask for actrapid, only available as a vial and syringe but it is used in hospitals to get control back.

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

Topic states fasting, so per se it means fasting does it not?

Do you take statins? Do you know why?

O jave had 2 different types of stating pushed o to me, 1st made me nautious, and I ended up with bruising all over. Have binned them and gp is aware I will not be having anymore.

Changing long acting insulin injection sites

I use backside for basal, stomach and top of legs for bolus. Injecting into muscle will speed up the action of the insulin, in my case if injecting my basal (insulatard) into my legs it would kick in within an hour and be done by 6hrs in. Spoke to clinic and they advised backside, doses have...

New to insulin type 2 diabetes

Well the dvla does restrict what you can drive once you have a 3ys license. Also I haven't seen anyone mention the 5 to drive guideline?
