What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Thanks Goonergal, I had some mascarpone cheese in the fridge so had a spoonful with grated dark chocolate and some berries. I'm drinking hot water with a drop of lemon juice. I'll have to add whipping cream to the shopping list (and then keep it away from my daughter). Take care x

What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Today I have been determined to eat because I have been unwell with covid and the dreadful taste complications hit me, which added to nausea have made eating and drinking difficult. I'd barely eaten for days, was getting a bit dehydrated and weak and realised that I needed to look after...

COVID-19: are you wearing a mask?

Thanks for your message. I have been ill for 3 weeks and today I woke up without feeling utter despair for the first time in ages. Covid is a ghastly illness. We've all had in in my house, all 6 of us. My 12 year old son was largely asymptomatic. The girls of 14 and 17 have not been back to...

What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

You must have the most amazing views, it sounds idyllic. We live a few miles away from RHS Hyde Hall Gardens, which I believe is reported to be the driest place in the UK. We have to do a lot of watering to keep the garden alive. There were a few casualties this summer. I built a raised...

Controlling with low carb - GP /nurse unimpressed

Thanks ziggy_w I am thankful that none of the 6 of us have any serious complications. My youngest child had the mildest symptoms. It is a bit of a yoyo illness and it is important to rest a lot. Keep safe. xxx

What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Hi Annb, I am very hit and miss with plants. I am very good at buying trays of bedding plants and letting them die. However, it has been very hot this year and I bit the bullet and decided to grow veg in my front garden as it gets so much more sun. It was really successful but helped by having...

Controlling with low carb - GP /nurse unimpressed

Hi Crossword puzzler, I agree with you completely, being able to share experiences on this forum and gain understanding from others has given me confidence in my approach. My husband has joined me going low carb and so has my sister. Between us we've lost 4 stone in weight and are looking and...

What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Thanks Ann B for your message. My husband says that he used desiccated coconut in the cabbage thoran but only a couple of table spoons rather than half a cup. He added it in the last couple of minutes so that steam would soften it. Broccoli thoran is really good too. This Covid isn't much...

What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Yesterday's food was: one avocado with tabasco a small amount of cabbage thoran and kidney bean curry (made by my husband, he sent a photo of the food to his Indian colleagues who were very impressed). I don't feel hungry and feel nauseous a lot as still in the throes of Covid19.

Low carb wonders - I stopped nibbling my fingernails

That's great news. I hadn't noticed but now I think about it, I'm sure this applies to me too. I haven't need to dive into the bushes for a wee on country walks recently.

    Finding love

Hi Dudette 1, your post is really honest. When I got together with my husband I showed him a drawer of meds I had for terrible migraine problems. Fortunately, he didn't run away. I was diagnosed t2dm in August and am controlling well with low carb eating. My husband and sister are buying into...

    Some bad news

Don't blame yourself. I'm in the same position. I was diagnosed in August after my vision went blurry. Out of control blood sugars, t2dm. I am so glad I came to this forum. I am controlling the diabetes with a low carb way of eating. My husband and sister have also adopted it and we're all...

Low carb wonders - I stopped nibbling my fingernails

When I feel better (after this bout of covid), I am going to try and make pizza. I'm using the Caldesi books. I will report back.

Low carb wonders - I stopped nibbling my fingernails

I needed a lot of cook books for inspiration. My favourites are by Katie and Giancatlo Caldesi (their 2nd book is on sale v cheaply in The Works atm). They really helped me to like cauliflower rice. Their basic recipe is with finely diced onion, softed first and then all cooked on the hob with...

Low carb wonders - I stopped nibbling my fingernails

I feel fab eating lower carb meals. There are so many benefits: I don't get hungry so hace lost some of the middle age spread, also I don't get so much brain fog. Touch wood, after a rocky start, my migraines have disappeared. What has surprised me most is that 40+ years of nibbling my...
