What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

Hi 5.3 this morning, 7.1 before bed. Libre shows it was very steady overnight, thanks to tresiba and low carb.

    Freestyle Libre

Hi joanne75 I have been using the libre since August 2016 and love it. Hopefully I can answer your questions: 1) 1 sensor lasts 14 days, so for continuous use (2 sensors) it costs £100 pm + post 2) once you activate the sensor, if you remove it then you can't reattach it. It's 24 hours a day...

New Type 1: Bloods in the night

You could try using a libre sensor to see what's happening overnight, which comes at a cost but I think worth it. Helped me loads. I agree that basal testing is critical too. I've had type 1 for 25 years this May and only now just understanding, with the help of this forum, how important it is...

Just started Tresiba - bad experience

Should also say, when I switched I missed the evening dose (9.30pm) and waited to the morning (10.30am)...it was OK until the afternoon, then I found I had to inject 3u of novorapid every 3 hours to reduce my BG, until the evening. It wasn't high (8-13) but much higher than I'm consistently...

Just started Tresiba - bad experience

Hi, just seen your message. Fact is, I'm not 100% sure if I'd have stuck to evenings that my BG would not be as good as it is now. I kept changing dose every three days and after a week of morning hypos, thought I'd try a morning dose of tresiba. It's settled down now and my BG is normal in the...

Just started Tresiba - bad experience

Hi, I switched from lantus (36u split dose 18u am & pm) three weeks ago today. First day was great at 30u then hypos each morning (which is different as I'm used to my sugar being higher). So I left it for 3 days, same hypos and then reduced it. Moved from injecting in evening to morning based...

    Needles

Having MDI and being lazy I change my needle every few days. Can't remember ever changing each time. That's why I have a half full sharps box sat for years never emptied and boxes of needles ready. Same with the lancets.

    Dominos pizza.

Cheers for the replies. The 12 pizzas were scoffed within 10 minutes so no problem in the end. Didn't even want any, genuinely, which must mean low carb is settling on my brain now. Absolutely no cravings for carbs. Only bacon. BTW it does help me to view carbs as poison. I just cannot go back...

Anyone struggled to get a pump on NHS?

Thanks, some great advice. DSN just called me and I have an appointment with a consultant on 3 May to discuss pump. Plenty of time to experiment with the new tresiba basal dose and I will definitely have plenty of libre graphs.

Anyone struggled to get a pump on NHS?

Hi I've been to see a DSN at my local hospital about getting a pump a couple of times and going back in three weeks. I've managed to get my HbA1c down to 44 due to LCHF. She said that the consultant would want me to try tresiba before even considering a pump, as my morning BG is slightly higher...

    Tresiba

well at least I have a pattern, as BG low again this morning, libre shows hypo about 8 hours after 30u tresiba which I've been taking at 9.30pm. not as low as yesterday morning though. Had 5 glucose tablets to correct a 2.4 at 7.45am, shot up to 8.1, so I'm sure DP kicks in as usual.

    Tresiba

Thanks for that, I know I have a lot more work to do but will persevere. BGs been lower today, bit too low, so I can see bit of tweaking should sort it.

    Tresiba

Thanks for the comments, yeah it's early days so I'm still testing and probably shouldn't have increased so early. I'll drop back down to 30u, may change to am as well
