    Post meal double spikes

I had a similar problem. I discovered that I need to keep the carbs in each meal to below 10, ideally below 8 and I don't get spikes.

    Celebration Day and Thankyou

Follow up to my opening post. I saw the DN yesterday. She was pleased and I came off Metformin. I'm going back for another HbA1c in 3 months to see how well I'm managing with diet alone. She said if I continue managing my diet she will expect an average reading of 7.5 mmol. On Metformin I'm...

    Celebration Day and Thankyou

Just been to the Doc for the results of my HbA1c test. It was a piddling little 38 which she said is a good reading for a person without diabetes. I'm over the moon about this. Last year it was 98. The low carb diet is REALLY working. I'm so so happy. Thankyou to everyone here and the 10...

Last year I lost 13kg and put half back on so I'm moving towards my best weight loss mark again. Ho hum. But low carb is...

Most of the battle is mental

I completely agree. Mental and emotional challenge to change is what I find the hardest. Incorporating exercise into daily routine has been hugely successful. I took redundancy from teaching and set up as a self employed gardener this year. It keeps fit if poorer but what a difference this...

    Patrick Holford

I've recently read this book and also find it an interesting read. We enjoy some of the recipes too. I bought some of the supplements to slow down carb processing but haven't been taking them yet...... so I can't say if they're effective. I doubt I would know if they were working anyway...
