    Silly Question

I have just treated myself to an ice cream maker ( a bowl in the freezer type as couldn't justify the compressor ones !) but the recipe tells me to use 1 cup of sugar which of course I will replace with a sugar alternative. Please can anyone explain what 1 cup of sugar would relate to if I used...

    Ice Cream

Thank you so much for all the ideas. I like the idea of the cream and custard with berries. Is there a specific recipe for this? Also the sugar free jelly sounds like a good alternative. I don't think it really matters what it is, I am just craving something sweet but still not bad for me.

    Ice Cream

I have been on the LCHF diet for just over 3 months now, the last 6 weeks in Keto ranges so I am doing very well and my blood sugar has dropped below Pre Diabetes now, however I know that if I start to eat the wrong food I will be right back where I started. I know without a doubt that I am not...

    Prediabetes Neuropathy Question

Thank you all for answering, there are so many useful hints and suggestions. I think maybe I will have a chat with my GP as she is very up to date on all things diabetic and if she doesn't come up with any ideas then I will look at the vitamin advice given in the posts above. I think it would...

    Prediabetes Neuropathy Question

I posted on the Pre Diabetes forum today to say that my recent blood test showed that my bloods have gone from 45 down to an amazing 38 in 3 months due to LCHF diet, however I have been suffering since last year ( before diagnosed ) with neuropathy. A burning and numbness in my toes and balls of...

    Fantastic News

Yes, she is a lovely lady, mid 50s + but very up to date with ideas. She is a firm believer in LCHF for Diabetes and she gave me all the web links so I could change my life to this way of eating after years of low fat diets which did me no good at all.

    Fantastic News

In the start of January my bloods showed I was high end Pre Diabetes with a reading of 45, so I immediately took my GPs advice and started on the LCHF diet. I have managed to stay in Keto ranges for the last few weeks with very low carb around 10-15% only. I had another blood test a few days ago...

    No ones fault - rant

I really don't think I can blame them for storm Doris as she was the real cause, and as most of our power lines are above ground then falling trees create havoc - the joys of living in the sticks

    No ones fault - rant

Many thanks, I plan to cook as much as I can tomorrow ( too late tonight) but not sure about the salmon as it was in the fridge for all that time, also the chicken in the fridge may be a bit iffy. I may cook them and let the dogs have a feast !! The freezer stuff I will cook and refreeze again...

    No ones fault - rant

I live right out in the sticks in Norfolk so only shop once a month, but pick up a few fresh veg locally. My last big supermarket shop was Tuesday this week, then Thursday power cut. It has just come back on after 33 hours of blackout and on checking my big chest freezer it was all ruined. 3...

    What am I doing wrong

Thanks Resurgam for the reply. I think you and my Dr are on the same wavelength. She mentioned yesterday that if I have no success on the very low carb the next time she sees me in a month then she suggested that we discuss a very high fat diet ( higher than I am on now) diet to see if we can...

    What am I doing wrong

The trouble is that I am not losing weight so the very low carbs are to try to kick start the loss of a few pounds. Once the weight begins to come off then I can relax the regime a little. This is under the guidance of my doctor. I am struggling to drop even a pound on 10% carbs so my body and...

    What am I doing wrong

Hi Yes I told her exactly how I was feeling and the symptoms I had during the night but she was not particularly worried and felt that more fluid and slightly more salt should stop this problem and I should settle down soon. She checked me thoroughly and was happy with what she found

    What am I doing wrong

Just an update Saw my Dr and she is very happy with my readings and agrees that symptoms are Carb Flu. She thinks I should up my carbs from 10% to 20% for a while until things settle down. She has also told me to up my water intake ( at the mo I have a 1.5L bottle of water daily plus tea and...

    What am I doing wrong

I have just booked an appt with my gp for Friday morning. My Dr is very forward thinking as it was her who advised me to start on the lchf diet, maybe you are all right and a quick check up would be wise. She gave me links to this diet so if there are any untoward side effects then I am sure she...
