Freestyle tips - and feeling a bit better

Just reviving this one. Freestyle metre says average 10 mmol/l glucose for me over the last two weeks. This is with a low carb diet which started at the same time. Over what sort of timescale should I be seeing glucose go down? I am getting a bit concerned that it will stick at around 10.

    High Protein Noodles

In Tesco yesterday I saw a pack of high protein noodles. The pack said they have wheat and pea protein. What do people think of these? I did not look to see what the carb level was on the labelling.

    Metformin

I felt quesy with normal Metformin. Switch to the SR version, just ask your doctor. I really dont see why everyone is not put on the SR version first of all, this seems a very common side effect.

    Freestyle Libre 2

I would say to delete your account and open a new one. I cannot see where the button for that is though. I would contact their customer support and ask to have your account deleted. Then start again. They do want you to try their product!

    Freestyle Libre 2

I got the trial sensor last week. I think it is fantastic. Some points: You really do not know the sensor is there. Not in any way intrusive. I bought a pack of special circular plasters on Amazon, which are made to fit the sensor. So I am not worried about knocking it off or taking a shower...

Freestyle tips - and feeling a bit better

My Freestyle Libre is very helpful. I have now started to cut carbs out of my diet - for instance having Edam cheese and pepperoni sausage for breakfast. My blood sugar is averaging 10 mmol/l and I have been 70% time on target below 10% I have been using the Libre for about a week. Your...

Freestyle tips - and feeling a bit better

I am very impressed with the Freestyle Libre. I am wearing it with a transparent circular plaster over the top. Very confortable. My glucose is hovering round the 10 mmol/l mark mostly. Yesterday I had a ripe babana and yoghurt for breakfast and spiked to 16. I can understand that. Today I had...

Freestyle tips - and feeling a bit better

Thankyou for the advice. Libre 2 sensor now on. Sorry to be picky - why the advice not to connect to it for 24 hours? If it is inacurate for 24 hours I can understand that and will not pay too much attention to it. Or is there another reason to leave it alone for 24 hours?

Freestyle tips - and feeling a bit better

Thanks to the people who replied to me in earlier threads. I have started to pay attention to cutting carbs, and am feeling better for it. not amazing, just a bit more perky. I am getting the free trial of Freestyle Libre delivered. Any tips on wearing it and how to place it? I bough a pack of...

    The Informed Patient

Thanks again for advice. Over the last day I have paid more attention to what I am eating - got some carrot batons, hummus and found smashed avocado in Tesco. I did not take any Metformin. Feeling a good deal better than I was earlier in the week. Still not 100% but better. I also got the free...

    The Informed Patient

Thanks all for advice. Yesterday I took Glicazide early with breakfast plus metformin and I felt really ropey later in the day. Today I took no metformin and just took a Glycazide to have a late breakfast at 10:30. I am feeling a lot better. From working at several companies I have got into the...

    The Informed Patient

Another question - if Type 2 are resistant to insulin (I suspect that I am) why do the medics not test for the amount of insulin in your bloodstream? Why only test for the products of glucose metabolism? If I could be told 'hey sunshine - you are producing insulin, you just are not making use of...

Thankyou Bulbiker. Everyone keeps saying that breakfast is the most important meal of the day and that you should never skip breakfast. I guess that should be revised for Type 2s!

    The Informed Patient

I would like to vent a little.. and get any feedback. I hve had type 2 for maybe 8 r 10 years. When I was first diagnosed my GP surgery told me to control it with diet and weight. They prescribed lancets but would not prescribe testing strips, saying this was practice policy. I got my own meter...

    Continous monitoring?

I have not visited this forum for several years. I do know that monitoring is a big topic here. I have not been wel controlled for the last year or so, and my GP has me on metformin and Gliclazide. When I was first diagnosed the GP practice would not prescribe test strips. However I bought my...
