    Who-hoo it works!

Happy bunny! Diagnosed in January with hbA1c of 57 and fasting blood test of 7.6 Came here, started the LCHF lifestyle and today results are hbA1c 48 and fasting blood test of 5.8 and that's after only two months of trying (I didn't start the diet right away, I was in shock!) I've not...

    I cracked...

I think that could be why I'm craving (and eating) salted peanuts  I didn't think about it before but I have walnuts and almonds in the house but I just want to salted peanuts. I'll have to cross them off my shopping list as too tempting!

    Type 2 at 23! (PCOS) 12th Feb

Sorry about your loss Rosanna, especially at a young age. Stick around this forum, the advice you get here is normally better than you'll get elsewhere (certainly better than I got from my GP practice). You'll find support and even handy recipes too!

    I'm tagged.

It must have been a shock to have gone into hospital with something like pneumonia and then come out with diabetes. Maybe your levels were so high they had no option but to start you on medication? At least you were given your diagnoses by a medical person, the receptionist told me! :rolleyes...

    Greetings

Try full fat cream in your coffee and you may not miss the sugar as much. It may also satisfy munchie cravings (it works for me!) I'm similar to you, I think I drifted into bad habits with my diet and this is a kick up the bum to sort myself out. I was only diagnosed a few months ago but the...

Yoghurt: Lidl's, Milbona Turkish or Greek Style?

I love the Greek one but never seen the Turkish one before. I'll have to look out for it. How many carbs per 100gms?

    Holiday time

I used to think that cereal bars were healthy. But they make my BG rise really quickly and I now consider them the same as sweets. Like the others mention, nuts and cheese as snacks. In France you could have some lovely omelette du fromarge! Well done for the volunteer work!

Lovely Fruit oh how I miss it!

I never saw myself as a fruit fan, preferred veg and salad. But, I liked melon (spikes me), banana (spikes me) and grapes (spikes the worst!) So, now I have an occasional apple and blueberries (I have them with Greek yogurt). I miss grapes the most :-(

    Bad Planning :(

I've just realised I have all those ingredients in my house now! :D Don't want to break the no after dinner snacks rule though so I'll have a go at making this at the weekend.

    Bad Planning :(

I snack on walnuts (not cheap), teaspoon peanut butter like deejay, tablespoon greek yogurt with something sprinkled on top like ground flax or ground almonds, or half an apple (can't manage more than half!) These are day snacks. But this week I've been trying not to have anything after my...

Does Anyone Else Get Different Blood Sugar Results From Right & Left Hands?

I've never tested both at the same time (having to buy the sticks I wouldn't want to waste them) but very interesting!

just diagnosed very confused about what i can and cant eat

I've been following the LCHF advice and I've also lost weight and my blood glucose levels are ok (most of the time, but early days for me!) I found breakfast the hardest but I now have omelette with cheese or bacon most of the time. I've also discovered flax (linseeds) which, when ground as...

Hard going but going to start again!

:( I can understand that. I'm new to this and it's easy to feel enthusiastic but I'm sure we'll all have moments like that. But try again if you can, especially if it was helping. The people in this forum are so supportive and I'm sure you'll get some more ideas.

Hard going but going to start again!

It is really good advice from Robbity to think about what you can eat, rather than what you can't eat. Our relationship and need for certain types of foods is often psychological rather than physical (i. e. rewarding ourselves with something sweet when we feel we deserve it if we've had a bad...
