    Diabetic retinopathy questions!

^^ it is possible to have pre prolif without noticing a difference. I went through all of this very rapidly in pregnancy and eventually it disturbed my vision a lot. Like you, I was very worried however I went through all the stages until I had the vitrectomy (what I felt like was the last...

    Diabetic retinopathy questions!

Hi there, if you have had proliferative retinopathy and it has been treated by pan retinal laser plus a vitrectomy (in one eye) can it ever return? My doc refers to it as 'treated retinopathy'. Thanks

Team leader recording sickness as 'diabetes'

The council which I work for has diabetes down as an example of disability, I've asked that any time is off because of it (inc eye injection appointments etc) is put down as disability not sickness, not sure if this is the same wherever you work though?

bloods out of control & 4weeks pregnant

It was a bit! But I also wasn't expecting it and didn't have eyes checked until about 4 months preg, so I would ask them that you have really regular check ups as soon as you can. There's lots they can do if they spot anything, laser etc its just something to be aware of if you're bringing down...

    Type 1 Pain killers!!

I've always used them all w/o problems although I avoid aspirin and ibuprofen as I think they'll make my retinopathy worse (sure I read this at some point but have NO medical explanation to quote!)

bloods out of control & 4weeks pregnant

Hi, yes I had this situation with my son! My levels were appalling..I mean really really bad. It was over 10 (old currency) and that's all I'm saying. type 1 diabetes/ invisible illness documentary

To make sure the difficulty of maintaining good sugar levels is highlighted. I hate the word 'control' when there are so many flippin variables..sometimes it feels Impossible even after 22years! Important not to talk about complications in a way that makes it sounds like you have been a 'bad'...

Hello, would like people's experiences please.

I think there's a general lack of understanding, personally though I've put hypo stop and the sugar injection in our staff fridge and explained what it's for. I've never been so low at work that I've needed help luckily, school wise though, I'm a primary teacher and it's quite surprising how...
