i read the blood sugar diet book when I got told I was prediabetic (only got tested as I pushed for a test as brother had just been diagnosed T2 and my GP said it that didn’t put me at any higher risk). The book made a lot of sense to me, low carb, exercise and an initial low calories for a few...

    Hello, newly diagnosed here

Hi, just wanted to say welcome. I am new here too, pre-diabetes so I am looking at it as an early warning so I can do something about it. I can’t offer you any advise apart from there are lots of very knowledgable people on here and the site is a mine of useful information.

Can injuries cause a rise in BG ?

Thanks for all your replies, it has reassured me. yesterday I may of overdone it with walking on it - it was painful last night afterwards and had to resort back to crutches, so maybe that is it. I will carry on with the keto and see how things pan out over next few weeks.

Can injuries cause a rise in BG ?

Sorry, yet another question. My fasting blood sugars have been pretty good the last couple of weeks, the highest being 5. I haven’t tested for a few days as I badly sprained my ankle on Tuesday evening so have struggled to get about. This morning I have done my fasting test and it was 7.4, I...

    Low Carb Bread question

I tried some low carb bread today that I had bought from Hand Crafted Breaf. I had 2 slices from their 400g loaf tin and made BLT open sandwichs. About 30mins after eating it my Stomach felt really uncomfortable and this lasted a good 2-3 hours. Is this normal with this type of bread or is it...

Problems with lancing for finger prick test

Well, did my fasting test this morning (3.7) - used the side of little finger after running hands for a while under warm water. Had to massage finger and shake hands but managed to get just enough to get a reading. your Tips have certainly helped and I think I may also order a different...

Problems with lancing for finger prick test

Some really good tips there for me to have a go at. If they fail I could be tempted to see if I get vastly different results from a ‘non-squeezed’ sample (providing I can actually get one!) to a ‘squeezed‘ sample. Thank you

Problems with lancing for finger prick test

Thanks, I will try the massage tip on the next attemp. I also have found out that you get different results even from the same drop of blood but I have no intention of verifying this either!!!

Problems with lancing for finger prick test

Hi, thanks for your reply - I don’t have a problem with getting the blood onto the strip - the problem I have is I can’t seem to get my finger to bleed. I have read that you shouldn’t squeeze your finger as that can affect the result??

Problems with lancing for finger prick test

Thanks for all the replies - changed the depth to number 4 instead of 5, rand hands under warm water, pricked fingers at side - managed to get a sample on 3rd attempt, so a bit of improvement.
