    Anxiety following diagnosis

Hi, I went into denial when I was diagnosed last year. I did nothing and ended up making my bg worse. It sounds like, although it has only been 6 weeks your doing great. It is a shock and a big thing. Especially if you have other health issues too. Take this week to relax a bit. You are not...

    Am I worrying over nothing.....

Have you tried asking your gp to give you a ring? Tell them you are very worried about the results. Like others have said if you have been following the lchf then they will have improved! Just try and chill, stress will not help. [emoji2]

    Weekly weigh in - Fridays

Morning all, my first week of doing the low carb mixed with the 5-2. Down from 89.1 to 86.4 so 2.7kgs lost. Very pleased. I did try SlimmingWorld last year but despite following it religiously didn't lose much weight. I think it was mainly because of my poor mobility. I am disabled but...

Type 2s: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning? (very low chat level)

Thank you, I have had a read and very interesting. I am doing the 5-2 diet at the mo and limiting carbs to under 50g a day so the fasting bit makes sense. I need to have another read as some of it was a bit over my head!

    What Meter to go for?

I use an accu check mobile. My surgery said I don't need to test as type 2, but I do! I know, rebel :-). I find it relatively easy although I did struggle changing the lancet to start. But now I know how, it's easy. I don't find pricking my finger painful. I like that it's small and compact...

It's all prescriptions, you also get free eye tests. I'm not sure of any other freebies though! Good luck.

Practice Nurse at GP docs advises not to test BS levels

Hi Tutonka, Welcome, I am like you daily new to the forum. Also, like you have been told by the DN at my surgery not to test. I was recently in hospital and my bg went quite high, the dr I was seeing in hospital told me, in order to know how my diabetes was I needed to test. I have only just...

    metformin

I have been on metformin for a couple of months. I have had the lovely upset stomach and generally feeling lousy. It made no difference to my bg, then I decided to stop taking it and really work at my diet. The day after me stopping the horrendous headache I have more energy and although it's...

8.4 [emoji3], happy with that as heading in the right direction! Started a food diary and strict low carb eating. Prior to my evening meal it was 7.3 so ecstatic!

To test or not to test

Hi, I was diagnosed last year as type 2. So I immediately went out and bought a test kit and started checking my bg. I then saw my DN and she said I don't need to test. I recently had a couple of quite big ops on my spine 2 weeks apart. This then sent my bg very high at 17. The dr in...

Type 2 Low carb and full fat or low carb low fat?

Thank you all for your reply. It does make sense. I am type 2, I had been trying to manage on diet alone but have been put on metformin about 6 weeks ago. I have had the usual unpleasant side effects and would like to stop taking them. I am overweight. I struggle to lose weight as I have...
