Type 1: What are your HbA1c test results?

My DSN told me that often times the blood close to the skin can be the last to register changes & can be 'old' so this gets things moving a little & is a more accurate reading. I do it automatically with all my blood tests now. Does that make sense, I found it tricky to put in writing! Sent...

Hi, Do you get to your Diabetic Clinic at the hospital often? Have you done the carb counting course at any point?

Type 1: What are your HbA1c test results?

Yes as soon as you are up, wash your hands and do your blood sugar. When you finger prick, wipe off the 1st drop then use the 2nd. When are you in Diabetic clinic next, if its soon, why not ring and ask if you can see the nurse as well as the consultant?

Type 1: What are your HbA1c test results?

I asked to see the DSN who deals specifically with pre-pregnancy. My experience has been more appointments and great support to get you to your goal. 1st appointment she put me on the continuous blood glucose monitor, to get a picture of how woeful my control was. I remember crying when we got...

    Type one/metformin weight loss

I find the myfitnesspal app is great for calculating carbs as well, really keeps me on track when i'm not at home. It can be tough getting ratios right as far as diabetes is concerned, i've always struggled with weight, have more control now i'm counting carbs, but try and keep a balanced diet.

    I'm really struggling...

I can really relate to your situation as I have many health issues as well as type1. I was diagnosed at 11 and of course my folks controlled that really well for me... Uni came along and I was out of the house, on my own, doing my own shopping and pretending I was not type 1. No insulin, no...

I'm at my lowest ever, last week I clocked a 6, so as far as pre-pregnancy goes, I've hit the target I was aiming for!

Everyone is different, it does take time. My ratios have changed recently and i'm diagnosed 25years. It really helps to do the DAFNE course when it is run next - it really helps to get some understanding of the condition. Good luck with the next few months. x

Hi Victoria84 It can take a little while to bring your sugars right and there will be adjustments in your long acting insulin and to your ratio for short acting. Once these are in place your sugars will reflect this. Don't lose heart x Viv

    Test Strip Request - denied

bluehazel14, I have recently been switched to a new meter by my new DSN. I have test strips which are well in date until next year and which the pharmacy will not take back - despite seal being intact. I am loathed to throw away such valuable items when people like you are crying out for a...
