    Freestyle libre (again)

So after wanting to try a CGM for ages I finally get offered to trial a freestyle libre through the NHS due to very low Hba1c. I got it fitted on Friday and thought it was awesome, but 2 days later the sensor started hurting and it fell off a couple of hours later and the monitor just say...

    First appointment!

Have you been formally diagnosed or referred to the DSN/endo following GP diagnosis? I was referred after GP diagnosis (I was caught VERY early as my partner is type 1 and spotted the very early signs and tested my BG and it was 23.6!), but after 2 weeks I still didn't have an appointment and...

    Help with running

My basal is perfect for rest days and if I lower it I tend to run high all night/day even on days I do run. I'll have a play around with it and see if it improves/gets worse though. Thanks for your response, and everyone elses

    Help with running

Hi all, So I for the last few months I have started running regularly again (had an injury that required surgery last year then dx type 1 in December 2016) and to begin with I was fine with having some carbs before I went running and not going low. However, as my long runs have been getting...

The man with the disappearing Type 1. An update...

It does seem unlikely, but without all the info it is hard to determine as type 2s can be fleetingly GAD positive? Who knows, eh? Its all very vague

The man with the disappearing Type 1. An update...

Exactly! I do a fair bit of exercise (run 3x a week and walk 3.5 miles at least everyday), while it reduces my insulin intake compared to when I am sitting around, I still have to inject insulin and always will. Will be interesting to see if they follow this up with some kind of journal article...

    Refused BG testing strips.

That's the problem though, the CGM would be perfect but are not currently available on NHS and both @TallGiraffe and I cant afford to fund a CGM at the moment. It is beyond ridiculous and I will be contacting the practice manager this morning to give her a piece of my mind

    Job dilemma

I say still go for it! I was diagnosed in December last year and I work in a lab where I am on my feet a lot, plus I walk 2.5 miles to work and back. My advice would to take this time between now and you start to get used to what it feels like to have a hypo, get in a regular pattern of...

What am I dealing with here...

I was told by my endocrinologist that it is 0.5 units per kg of each person. I am currently on around 38 units a day give or take, so it sounds like the GP is an idiot. Also, age and weight does not decided diagnosis, if so everyone over a certain age/weight would e type 2 diabetic, which just...

I can't concentrate at school, and it's hard for me to study. What do i need to do?

Do you stay up late at night? Drink a lot of caffine? If you're struggling with studying, speak to your teacher and they might be able to help you. Different people learn in different ways, some by reading, some are visual, but it might be that you and your teachers haven't found the best way...

Can you lose weight when you're T1D?

Right there with you! I lost about 14 kg pre diagnosis, around 8 kg of that in the space of a week, but as soon as I was put on insulin I piled on the weight back on, above what I was pre-diagnosis, and finding it hard to shift. I have always been very active, so finding it hard to balance BG...
