Nurse Told Me Not To Self Test Sugars Til I Am 3 Months In?

This is when i'm happy I live in Australia. I haven’t paid for a glucometer in decades (free) and test strips are cheap and subsidised, although you now need a script type form every six months unless you’re in insulin. I couldn’t manage without one. We're all different and what effects me one...

    Possible Newbie

What I was told thirty years ago was absolute rubbish. Straight on medication no diet advice at all. Knowledge has improved but what works for one may not work for another. If you’re T2 you need to understand what it all means first then gradually work out what works for you, sometimes there...

    Interesting Appt With Endocrinologist

Not really. At this stage I’m very focused on my heart health and my worsening kidney issues. I know my niece inherited an auto immune gene from both her parents. But I will look into it. It’s not something you hear much about here.

    Interesting Appt With Endocrinologist

We don't. I was diagnosed in my early thirties, and have managed my condition well until aged 59 it went haywire. Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, kidney disease not related to diabetes, high blood pressure (poss stress) de pruytens syndrome and last year at 63 a heart attack I didn’t even notice and...

Type 2 Type 2, Metformin And Chronic Kidney Disease

It’s great and growing like you wouldn’t believe. Proper shops like Aldi, Woolies, Coles, and no shortage of eateries. Sussex Inlet is a pale shadow.

Type 2 Type 2, Metformin And Chronic Kidney Disease

Other factors. My diabetes has always been well controlled, except when I’ve been ill. Now on insulin as. Can’t afford hypos - bad for heart failure. Finding that bit really easy. No hypos n over three months, previously one a day. I think I’m a conundrum.

Type 2 Type 2, Metformin And Chronic Kidney Disease

I live in country NSW. Not many choices. Not unhappy with my Dr, just wondering if anyone else has been here and what they’re experience is. Well aware it’s serious, but having to make quality of life fe decisions is a wee bit fraught. They don’t really know what caused those drops. Given...

Type 2 Type 2, Metformin And Chronic Kidney Disease

My diabetes didn’t cause my kidney disease. See repkybfyrther diwn. I do not trust doctors, or lots of research, particularly American. After thirty years of being told this works, then the opposite works I’ve got to the point I take money st with a grain of salt. I like British research...

Type 2 Type 2, Metformin And Chronic Kidney Disease

My CKD seems to be due to stress/high blood pressure. Egfr dropped suddenly when my dad died and two years later when I was assaulted at school. 85 down to 55, then 55 down to 30. Each time one test to the next. As for diabetes ctors after 30 plus years I’ve been told so many 'truths' about...

Type 2 Type 2, Metformin And Chronic Kidney Disease

That’s what they’re telling me. But I also have heart failure and in recovery from that (pacemaker implant, vet blockers), without Metformin I’m unable to exercise, which is hard enough anyway with max heart rate of 80, and a lot of the research on it is inconclusive. Correlation isn’t...

    Frozen Shoulder

Generally due to inflammation I was told. Which can arise from accident, injury and diseases such as diabetes. I fixed mine with turmeric, or time, but I think it was the turmeric.

    Lowering insulin resistance

    That’s OK.

    Lowering insulin resistance

I was told to build muscle. Trying but no idea if it works. They want me off Metformin because of chronic kidney disease which is into stage 4.

    Bisoprolol. Any Fellow Sufferers

I'm on 5mg Bicol for dilated cardiomyopathy. It made me very tired at first. Seven months down the track I’ve got used to it, no longer tired.

    Metformin & vit b12

This my knowledge (30 years of this) Metformin strips B12 from food. Supplements don’t usually work. You usually have to have it by injection.

    Stopping Metformin

I’m on it to reduce insulin resistance because I haven’t been able to exercise for a year and can still only do a little.

    Stopping Metformin

Depends on what you mean by cardiac prevention. I’ve read so many different views in Metformin in the last thirty years, many of which contradict each other, that I no longer trust any of them.
