    Rye Bread

Sorry my mistake again, it's not LoveLife that's low in carbs, it's Livelife and has only 3.8g of carb per slice. It has less wheat flour as they use vegetable protein flours instead. It has a different taste but is better in my view when toasted. You can get at Waitrose.

    Rye Bread

There are other breads which are lower in carbs such as HiLo which has 5g of carb per slice, you can get it in Sainsbury's. Another one is Lovelife which is also quite low in carbs. You can pick this up in Asda and other supermarkets but as with both these breads they are not widely in demand so...

Type 1: Can't remember if I took my bedtime basal

Hi Juicyj, Feeling much better today and my readings are down from yesterday. I was 10.3 before bed and 8.7 this morning so looking better. I should be back to better readings today hopefully. Oh and I ordered a Timesulin cap for my Lantus, a little present for myself at Christmas! Thanks again.

Type 1: Can't remember if I took my bedtime basal

Thanks for your advice catapillar. I panicked and took half my daily dose of Lantus at 11.00am so will be watching for insulin stacking after my daily dose around 11pm. At the end of the day it's all experience I suppose.

Thanks Mahola. I agree type 1 certainly does keep you on your toes and is a challenge at times. Ah well tomorrow's another day!

Type 1: Can't remember if I took my bedtime basal

Thanks Juicyj. I decided to take half of my daily dose of Lantus at 11.00am which is approx 12 hours after I would normally take it. I might get a little bit of overlap but I'll keep checking my BG. I am back to 14.1 from 18.2 so it's going in the right direction at least. I am also following...

Type 1: Can't remember if I took my bedtime basal

Thanks. that's what I thought as I've had colds before and have never had a high rise like this. I've just taken my BG again and after 3 hours it's now 18.2. I couldn't have taken my Lantus last night. Would you take it now or say half om daily dose of 26 units. In other words I could take 13...

Type 1: Can't remember if I took my bedtime basal

I woke this morning and my BG was 14.6 which for me is twice what it normally is. When I went to bed last night it was 6.3. I do have a cold at the present time which might be the cause or could it be because I might not have taken my Lantus last night. I was feeling so tired at bedtime I just...

A funny thing happened to me .........

Just thought I would share this with you: I was having a mild hypo the other night and feeling a bit shaky at 2.9 and my wife said to me ' would you like a diet coke' to which I replied 'that would be nice dear but would you put a couple of teaspoons of sugar in it please'. It tickled me at...

    Hi all. Type1.

Hi Andy, welcome to the forum. I wish you well with the kidney probs. I've only been diagnosed 4 yrs as type 1 (I'm 69 years old) and this forum has been a great help at times. I'm on quite a few meds for blood pressure and just had stents inserted in my coronary arteries. Like you I also do 4...

Type 1: What are your HbA1c test results?

My 6 monthly review last week and I was up a little at 7.1 (54 new money). I expected this as recently been hospitalised with angina and ended up with 2 stents in two main arteries.

Living with someone who has type 1

Sorry to hear of your problems. There is a limit to how much you can help your husband and you obviously cannot be by his side all of the time. He has to seriously take responsibility for his diabetes and exercise proper control to ensure he avoids hypos as much as he possibly can. This is...

Can anyone advise on the Accu-chek Mobile BG monitoring system

Thanks for your reply pinewood. I've got my free meter from Roche today and it only took a couple of days to despatch to me. It will seem strange to switch from my trusty Bayer Contour XT but the Accu-Chek Mobile seems much less hassle.

    It suddenly dawned on me...

I had the same problem with my GP when I was first diagnosed. They couldn't understand that I had to test at least 4 times a day and didn't seem to understand that I had to test before each meal and before bed at night. That's the minimum. So I wrote to my GP explaining why I needed more test...
