Thank you, I adjusted 9am basal as thought this would be affecting 11am reading, but these readings make me wonder as despite being 7.1 at 10am and having a 10 carb snack she was still 4.1 at 11am. Then for some reason rose to 13.8 by lunch at 1.10pm. I think the high at lunch was perhaps caused...

    Levels

Yes, my daughter does the check at school 2 hrs after breakfast so we know if the bolus is correct. The problem we are having is that she has had hypo's the past 2 days at 11.15 am and I'm just wondering if its basal change or bolus. It kind of depends on who you speak to but I think if I was to...

    Temp Basals

Thanks Guys, I do already have a different profile for school days and weekends which usually works fine. I think we are just going through a period where changes are needed xmas just makes it harder to get right. I did basal testing on her morning levels and they were very good therefore I...

    Temp Basals

Hello All, I having been having a few problems controlling my daughters blood sugars over the xmas holidays. Some of the readings make no sense at all. I have started to use the temp basal and a few times over the past couple of days the temporary basal has had to be set at 200% in order to get...

    Bolus or Basal

Thanks for this. Our nurse has always told us that the difference you mention is after 2hrs, hence the only reason we do the10am checks that we do. She doesn't always have a snack at 10am, it really just depends on what her level happens to be. We already tend to stick to the foods we know work...

    Bolus or Basal

Thanks, I did some basal testing and there were spot on which meant it had to be the bolus so I have made the changes however even that isn't working great at the moment. For example yesterday morning she work at 6.8 and was 5.0 at the 10am check. She had her snack but by 12pm she was 10.4.The...

    highs

Hello, I posted last week about the fact that my daughter was having highs at 10am. She eats breakfast at around 8am and at her 10am check everyday last week she was high. I tested the morning basals on Friday and they were spot on. Therefore for today I changed the bolus to give her more with...

    Bolus or Basal

Gosh that would be so handy. No her accu chek Aviva doesn't switch to decimal values at all its all whole numbers and like I said 8.0 to 9.3 is and awful lot. I suppose I could reduce her carb so she doesn't get just quite as much. For instance her breakfast usually works out at 56 grams of carb...

    Bolus or Basal

Hello, my daughters blood sugars have been running high at her 10am check. She wears a pump and has her breakfast at around 8am. My question is do I up her morning bolus or change her 8am basal. I'm always a bit concerned when changing her morning bolus because at the moment when within normal...

    Swings

Gosh does sound similar. Its nice to know its not just us. Its just exhausting trying to keep up isn't it? Sometimes it feels like its all I ever do. Our life at the moment is controlled by the diabetes and that's what I hate most. I suppose like me you are up and down during the night just...

    Swings

Hi all, I was just wondering if any parent with a pre teen had the same problems we are having, as at the moment I feel as if I can never get my daughters bgs under control and I feel like this is driving me crazy. We obviously have times when I can see patterns and we make changes and carry on...

    Recognising hypos

Hi Flossy, my daughter is also 11 and she does not recognise her hypo signs. We test her bgs every couple of hours because of this and a test is often the first we know of a hypo. In saying this we have never had a severe low since she was diagnosed in 2009. I think this is because we test so...

Thanks for advice, She is on half term holidays from today but I will make a note to do that on her first day back. Weekends and holidays or very different to school days and she is on different rates, I have no doubt they will need changing too so I will do basal testing tomorrow morning...

    Improvements

Hello everyone, I posted a few days ago What I'm I missing, my daughters bgs were always high. Good news is that I have been able to get them down and some or in normal range. I just have a question on whether it's the morning bolus or the basals that I need to take a look at more carefully. Her...

    What Am I Missing?.

If at lunch she was 5.9 and shot up to 14.4 two hrs later I'm I right in thinking that she would be needing more bolus with her lunch. I originally didn't think this because yesterday lunch was 9.0 and 3pm was 9.1 which would make you think it spot on . God I'm so confused as what to do.
