    Insulin

Hi Sparkess, No, it's not true to say that all T2's end up on insulin! Most are treated adequately on diet and oral meds! :) Bob

    LADA/1.5 so confused??

Hi All, just seen this thread! I have a similar tale, diagnosed T2 3 yrs ago, but GP wasn't convinced! I went through all the drugs, which worked for a short while, but wound up on basal insulin. Transferred to Hospital Diabetic unit, to go on to basal and bolus insulin! GAD antibody test over...

why do I have a hypo every Sunday afternoon?

Do you have a sunday roast dinner and overcalculate insulin? Are you carb counting for bolus doses? :) Bob

    non diabetic hypo?

In theory, anyone can go hypo if they over exert or exercise, and eat insufficiently! If you stop, sit down and chill for a bit and your body regulates itself again, then all should be good! If not, you could have a problem. Look at your diet / exertion regime, try eating properly for a while...

    Loss of insulin?

If the bleeding stops when you dab or apply a little pressure, you should be good! Agreed, what length needle are you using? I saw 3 people on a course today still using 8mm, I have 4mm, much less likely to clip capilliary vessels! :) Bob

Flying to U.S.A.... Help Please :D

Metformin should be fine, test kit is more likely to be an issue as sharps! Check with your DSN, the may have a ready prepared letter for airline staff! I'm flying to NYC in Oct, and have a prepared letter from diabetic unit stating what I need to carry and why! :) Bob

    penis unshaping

Don't go to a gynaecologist as they deal specifically with the fair sex, a Urologist would be the one! Your GP would be better! :) Bob

    A Miracle supplement

LOL Neil Walters, I had exactly the same thought when I read that! Made me think of the effects created by a Bob Martin's Dog conditioning tablet in a can of coke! ( No, it wasn't me that did it)! :) Bob

    urgent help

Hi, If he's off the scale high, he could be producing ketones? I would contact NHS Direct and explain exactly as you have here! It may even be a case of A&E to stabilise him! :) Bob

Newly diagnosed - and very frustrated!!

Welcome to the forum, Julie! I have heard that a lot of GP Practices go for medication first and foremost, but that does not mean you cannot control using diet alone! Diabetes medicine, in my experience, takes place over a long time, so no surprise about a two week appointment! There are some...

I've been using the Contour USB for a while, but the next is superior in many ways, and I love it! Also works in Linux OS!

    Insulin pen bags?

I use a 'manbag' which is just big enough to carry all my kit and caboodle in! I have an even smaller one for nights out! Both have printed descriptions of what pen/pill is what, and my routine timings/dosages etc! Theidco.com are an excellent company, I ordered a modified dog-tag to replace...

    SR Metformin HELP tablet phobia

I'll echo what others have said, the normal tablets played merry hell with my bowels, but switching to Modified/Slow release took all those side effects away! As already said, take with food, as in half way through a meal, and you'll barely notice anything! Metformin is one of the safest drugs...

    First hypo

Hey Sarah, Hypo's are scary things, that's for sure! But part of beating this condition is working out what works for you! Because what works for you may not work for me! :) You will get there in time, and good DSN;s are hard to find! :) Bob

    A nice dn appointment

My DSN is fabulous, she is a mine of information, and will go out of her way to help! I trust her completely, and would do whatever she suggests! Diabetic Specialist Consultant is also pretty neat, it was he who decided after 10 mins that I didn't fit the type 2 profile, so ordered up GAD...

    metformin serious side effects

Hi Norman, It would be best to go back to your GP with that question! Or diabetic nurse! You could probably phone the surgery for advice! I'm not sure there is anything else like Metformin! :) Bob

    Thirsty

Hi eveshamgal, There are test strips that you dip in urine to check ketones, ask your diabetic nurse or GP for some! :) Bob
