hi, I have heard lots of bad said about there dn, I'd like to say mine is very nice and although not fantastically well informed she seems to care, she has let me book in a full blood screen for my next hb1ac test which is awesome, she checked my feet booked me into have one of these eye tests, told me I was doing the right thing eating low carb even though I get the impression she knows very little about it, she didn't know about the meter she gave me having the ability to go onto the computer and print out the graphs, but wrote it down and said she would tell others, and loved the myfitnesspal ap I showed her, generally very kind. Just wanted to share thanks

I'm glad you like yours! Mine is also fab, she is fantastically well informed but maybe that's because I'm type 1 and if she wasnt I could well be in a coma by now! She knows all the apps and recommends them to me. I fully trust her advice and judgement :)

I love my DN, she's so supportive and although she would like my Hba1c to be around 7 she understands why I want it lower.

My first DN suggested after 6 months following NHS advice that I 'should just get a gastric band' Not exactly helpful!

It's always best not to read too much into other peoples experiences Andy, judge people how you find them :)

My DSN is fabulous, she is a mine of information, and will go out of her way to help! I trust her completely, and would do whatever she suggests! Diabetic Specialist Consultant is also pretty neat, it was he who decided after 10 mins that I didn't fit the type 2 profile, so ordered up GAD antibody test! Lo and behold, GAD at 200+, Type 1, Adult onset at 50! Fairly unusual!

Both dn where I am are the last word in patronising. It absolutely undoes me! I have had diabetes a long time but they are convinced they are the only ones who know anything. I now avoid them because they are no help at all. Its just the luck of the draw I suppose. In any field you will find people who are great at their jobs and people who are not
