Hypo, hypo and hypo again - new to pump - advice please!!!

Good advice, but I've been carb counting for 5 years and I've done DAFNE twice. We know that there wasn't an issue with my bolus rate before going onto a pump and my basal I've only changed as my consultant told me to and still hypo'd now 8 times today even with the reductions :(

Hypo, hypo and hypo again - new to pump - advice please!!!

Hi, I went onto a pump on Tuesday. I work weekends and was told to do a temporary basal last night for today, reduced by 30%. I woke up with bg levels at 11.8 at 8am, did the reduction and a correction along wth my normal carb ratio. I did this until lunch time, when I was at 3.7 (12:25) but...

    Pump help!!

Hi, Sorry if somebody has already posted this somewhere else, but with a pump are you supposed to change the insulin every few days as it is kept warmer than in pens? I'm due an infusion set change, and only have 1ml of insulin left in the cartridge so wondering if I should change both at same...

So bleeping angry with my gp!!!!!!

I feel the same! It's ridiculous having to have review by doctors when I'm at the hospital so otter (sometimes every 6 weeks!) so I argued with the receptionist and got nowhere. I called back later that day and got a telephone app with the nurse and when she called me back I explained that I'm...

New to pump - advice please!!

Hi So I started on the accu check combo pump yesterday afternoon and my sugars have been pretty amazing compared to usual. (See mysugr photo above!) However, I have been up several times in the night to test bg levels and have had to bolus a very small amount of insulin (0.7u split as 0.4 at...

So bleeping angry with my gp!!!!!!

Ahhhh this has happened to me so many times! I once ended up sat in A&E for over 4 hours because the doctors were refusing to give me strips or insulin! At the start of April, I was called by my surgery and told I needed to go in for a review (which I kindly told them I'd already had one in...

    Night hypos....

I would bring it forward, but I can't as interferes with work if I do and I'm not allowed any more breaks and not allowed to inject infront of people :/

    Night hypos....

Again between 10 and 11 in the morning so that there's 12 hours between. That what I was told to do with them, not sure if its right? I am waiting for my pump. I was told that I'd have it within 2 weeks just short of 2 months ago now. Consultant is saying that I need to go for tests to see if...

    Night hypos....

Ahhhhh thank you! I am on lantus because none of the other long acting insulins have worked for me, although I have recently been having issues with it stinging and actually hurting to inject. Never would have crossed my mind that it could be my sites causing the problem - I never really pay...

    Night hypos....

That's what I thought, I've put it down a lot over the last 2 weeks (gone slowly from 12 to 7) and at 8 I'm still hypo-ing and at 7 I was waking up around 19 :/ pretty fed up!

    Night hypos....

Anybody else struggle with night hypos? I've had them every night for about 3 weeks now. Nurses advice is to lower my basal insulin - I do this and all that happens is I end up high! I go to bed with my sugars between 7.8 and 9 at around 23:30 and I wake up around 3am with levels usually between...

    Disabled Student Allowance

When I was at uni a couple of years ago I was told that you only qualify if your diabetes has had long term adverse effects - blindness/nerve damage- that then classify you as "disabled". Although you are covered by what used to be the DDA, diabetes isn't classed as a disability unless...

Ready to throw pump out the window

Do you still have her pens? You could maybe try taking her off the pump for 12-24 hours, give her some long acting insulin so she has some in her system and use short acting to bring her levels back to normal and then reconnect the pump? If you're really worried call 111 but try not to worry...
