Type 2 with Insulin. Poll. How many forum users come within this category ?

Having high blood glucose on a regular base can be a cause of weightloss. And you mentioned going up to the mid teens usually in the morning recently. But like others have said, unexpected weight loss is a very good reason to contact your GP.

Brussels sprouts with gorgonzola - an experiment to see how well Brussels sprouts reheat in the microwave. Acceptable but I think I prefer other veggies if I have to reheat them on the bridge. And a piece of meat loaf. :hungry:

Why is there virtually ZERO interest by supermarkets in UK in selling LOW CARB foods?

Watery meat was exactly what I was thinking of when reading the article.

    High sugars with gallstones

And has she discussed how to adjust your insulin doses so you won't be so high all the time? Your operation is soon now, I hope you'll feel much better after you get rid of that pesky gall bladder!

Why is there virtually ZERO interest by supermarkets in UK in selling LOW CARB foods?

Apparently it does exist: https://www.consumer.org.nz/articles/low-carb-potatoes-legit-or-marketing But from reading the article, it sounds like they bred the potato to hold more water. So yes, fewer carbs per weight of potato than most potatoes, but only because there's more water in them.

Thanks all! I slept very well, the wasp bite didn't really bother me. :) It does look a little infected now, the wasp must have forgotten to wash his stinger before use I suppose. Getting bitten by a wasp in the car sounds absolutely horrible, @shelley262 !

Evening meal was two slices of LC toast, an egg, cheese, marmite. I should have had 3 days off but a sick colleague meant that today is my only day off. I had an appointment with the rheumatologist today, but had a flat tyre on the way so I had to call off and spent my afternoon waiting for...

Accu - Check Instant - wrong readings

It's not a huge range, although I completely agree it's annoying when results aren't correct. Your accu check seems to use mmol/l for blood gluose, which most of us use. You mention %, this is not the type of units your meter uses, your meter shows your blood glucose in mmol/l. Your hba1c can...

Introduce Yourself: Answer Some Personal Questions

We all have diabetes here so that part is boring, especially because you already found your way with asking diabetes related questions by starting a thread. We do need to know about the cat though!

I'm pretty impressed that your hba1c went up only a little, with two lots of steroids thrown into the mix! Especially with an improved TIR, showing you mostly managed the steroids well. :) Possibly the increase of your hba1c is because you've spent more time in the higher end of the range due to...

Having fewer lows will increase your hba1c and your TIR, can it be that?

I'm definitely not going to go hungry, you know me! And sending a food parcel is the sweetest thought, thank you! (Not going to give you the address of the Hermesbrug in Leeuwarden though, who knows what deliveries will come right when I've prepared food for 3 days! :bag:)

But I like walking around in a supermarket and looking at stuff! The work is in deciding what I want to eat, and in finding the time and energy to actually cook, I can do my shopping during my break. :) On weekdays I have very odd working times: 9 am to 4 pm, then a 2 hour break because of...

Today was the third day of cauliflower with cheese fondue and chipolata sausages. I was to have three days off after today, but I've been asked to fill in for a sick colleague tomorrow and friday this afternoon, so only one day off before another 3 day stint on the bridge. Multiple appointments...

    Quadrophenia.

Aw, but the title is so funny in this context! It even made me buy a bluetooth speaker to listen to The Who all over at work on the bridge. Thank you for that, using my laptop at work for music or videos has gotten so much better after your thread tipped me over into spending 40 euros on a...

    Diabetic Backpack

Have you been on a mixed insulin before? Many people find it much harder to regulate their blood glucose on that than on a basal and bolus regime. If you're currently on basal and bolus, and you're sure you want to be on a mixed insulin while away, I'd start using it well before you leave, in...

Three days on the bridge again, today was the first day. The cheese fondue was on offer at Lidl so I fancied cauliflower with cheese fondue by way of cheese sauce. (Both a pack of cheese fondue and a cauliflower last me 3 days, perfect for a 3 day stint.) Trouble is that it doesn't doesn't do...
