"What have you eaten" Parallel Chat

I feel like a salad for breakfast, so I'm planning to have eggs with some windowsill cress, cottage cheese with chopped onion, celery leaf/stalk, grated carrot, beetroot leaves and lettuce from the garden and a small bake at home roll.

Tea will be beefburgers from the freezer with resistant starch mash, runner beans (of course!) and cauliflower cheese.

Breakfast will be cottage cheese with chopped onion, ryvita and salad leaves from the garden AND my first tomatoes! Maybe a couple of eggs as well.

The beefburgers were a bit dry yesterday so I'm going to cook them in gravy in the slow cooker with carrots and celeriac from the garden. The celeriac was a bit of a fail - they are golf ball sized because I planted them in too small a trough but they are usable, I think. I'll have that with swede mash.

Breakfast was RyVita with Marmite plus pills and coffee.

Had an awful night - a new pain which came out of nowhere but wouldn't go back to wherever it came from. Couldn't lay down on either side, or on my back so I managed to hobble through to the kitchen chair, take some painkillers and sit waiting for them to take effect. Just after 04.00, I took a second lot of painkillers and I think I finally dozed off about 04.30. Woke again about 07.00 but, couldn't take any more painkillers until after 08.00.

It's a leg bandaging day and I had already removed the bandages, as usual, so I needed to go. With help from Neil I did manage to get there and, wonder of wonders, the pain is beginning to subside. BG, probably as a result, has been all over the place - in the 8's and 9's all night and still until I went out. By the time I got back Libre was telling me it was too low (3.4). Two digestive biscuits and a coffee put it back to 6.1 within minutes. Just had a bowl of soup and Libre is yelling at me again that BG is too high! Probably because of the pain and the painkillers.

I will have a further meal today. It will be the last of the chicken with mushroom gravy and some Brussels sprouts.

I am sorry you've had that horrible night, there are few things worse than pain stopping you from sleeping. Glad it it subsiding and I hope it goes away for good very soon. Have a virtual gentle hug x

Evening meal was two slices of LC toast, an egg, cheese, marmite.
I should have had 3 days off but a sick colleague meant that today is my only day off.
I had an appointment with the rheumatologist today, but had a flat tyre on the way so I had to call off and spent my afternoon waiting for someone to fix it.

And just now I made a new best friend. I suppose getting as intimate as in ones sleeve and biting counts as being very close friends. Not the type of intimacy I prefer, so I carefully showed him out, cursing the mark he left on me. I hope it won't prevent me from sleeping.

Ouch! Hope it's not too bad.

I'm hoping to do a bit in the garden as we might not get another good day for a while. It's set to get much colder in a few days as well. I'm still hobbling a bit but my knee is a bit less painful so I'll see what I can do.

Breakfast will be cottage cheese and ryvita.

Last night's tea was really good, and there's half left for tonight.

@Annb hope your pain subsidised enough for you to get a better sleep last night.
@Antje77 I know wasps help keep aphids under control in garden but I've got a bit of a panic reaction to them. It started years ago - I used to drive a 2CV and had soft roof rolled back. Sat at traffic lights one big one flew into the car and landed on my knee. I had to change gears to move off and he started stinging me! I couldn't safely stop for a bit - gosh it was so sore and swollen so panic now if one lands on me! Hope you didn't have a nasty reaction and slept well.
@jpscloud hope gardening goes well - take care of your knee. I'm planning to get out for a bit later but out this morning to celebrate a friend's birthday with coffee, hugs and catching up chat.

Me too, I've only been stung a few times but I have quite bad reactions and really fear them. I noticed they are gathering up some tiny caterpillars on my brassicas though, and although I wouldn't wish that fate on the caterpillars, they are doing me a favour really. Hope you have a lovely morning and a good afternoon in the garden!

Thanks all!
I slept very well, the wasp bite didn't really bother me. :)

It does look a little infected now, the wasp must have forgotten to wash his stinger before use I suppose.
Getting bitten by a wasp in the car sounds absolutely horrible, @shelley262 !

I hope it didn't stop you sleeping, Antje.

I have only once been stung by a wasp (never by a bee). My mother used to go hop and strawberry picking (a Londoner's holiday at the time) and she got used to all sort of insects and she always told me not to fear a sting, it was nothing (she said). I was stung on the knee one summer and my leg swelled hugely and was painful for days. Clearly I reacted in a way she never would. I am very wary of wasps, even all these years later. In one of my classrooms when I was teaching, every September wasps would come into the room - we had to have windows open because the room was too hot. I had to pretend to be calm as wasps buzzed around the room in order to stop my students panicking.

Breakfast was an avocado crushed onto crackers.

I have made a pot of vegetable soup to use the last of the chicken stock but I don't think I want soup again today. I do have some sausages which I could make meatballs with and have with cabbage. Probably will do that.

I didn't make the fruit cakes I intended 2 days ago - too much pain in my hip to either sleep or stand, or sit, or lay down so, even though I can't lay down at all, or sit for more than a couple of minutes, I can stand today, for short spells so have made 3 fruit cakes. Two for keeping and one for sending to my brother. Still in the oven and probably will take another half hour before I can get them out. Smelling good though.

No sleep at all last night. I got myself onto my bed but in very short order was in agony and had to get up again. However, I was stuck and couldn't get out of the bed, although I was too near the edge and could easily have fallen out onto the floor. Nor could I reach my alarm to get help from Neil. Bit by bit, I managed to get myself into a position where I could get my feet down to the floor and so, get up. A bit disconcerting and, until I feel my hip has improved, I shan't be going to bed again.

@Annb yikes that is really awful - I don't think my knee is in the same league but it does wake me up several times a night at the moment. Bed is where it hurts the most, although the suggestion of the thin pillow was a real life saver, at least I do get some sleep. Do you have a recliner? My mum needed three sheepskins (back, seat, and under legs) to be properly comfortable when she had to sleep in a recliner.

It seems the exercise today actually helped my knee, I even forgot about it for a while in the garden! It's really seized up again now though. I'll try to keep it gently moving.

Glad to hear that your knee has improved a bit, b ut do try not to overdo it and make it worse again.

I do have a recliner - in the kitchen and it is covered by a synthetic fur throw which both keeps it clean and makes it a bit more comfortable. I tried the thin pillow myself but it didn't help at all, sadly. I have no idea what this is. I did think it might be sciatica which I'm told can be excruciating but I've never experienced it. The problem is definitely in my hip though - I can hear it clicking and bumping as I move. Luckily, at present, my legs are taking the strain and, as long as I stay upright it's not too bad.

Made a bad mistake with food today. I decided to check one of the cakes for flavour and texture (I had used boiled and blitzed oranges instead of marmalade in the mix). Texture is a bit heavy but the cake is just the right level of sweetness and is actually very good. So I ended up having a couple more slices. BG shot up to 16.4 and I've spent the rest of the day getting it down again, so no soup and no sausage meat balls. Right now it has come down to 5.4. Probably a bit too low to go into the night, but it's OK since I shan't be going to bed.

It's quite sore today so I'm taking it easy! Hope your hip is feeling better today - did you get any sleep last night?

Breakfast was 3 eggs and a small bread roll. I also had a handful of peas raw from the garden! I was hungry first thing today but eggs kill my appetite very well so I'm not doing the thing of constantly foraging after I've eaten.

Tea will be risistant starch pasta with crispy lardons, runner beans and French beans from the garden. I will try not to snack but it's a rainy day indoors again so... I will try to stay busy so I forget about food though.

There should be an emoji for envious. Bread roll (Mmmm), resistant pasta (Yumm), fresh beans from the garden (Mmmm). All things I can't eat, or can't get. Eggs are pretty good at helping you to resist extra food. At least I can have them.

Glad that rain is keeping you indoors and making you rest your knee - give it a chance to heal. But try to snack on protein foods (ham, cheese, hard boiled eggs maybe). Listen to me! What did I do yesterday? And what was I tempted to do again today? (Resisted so far and have wrapped the cakes and put them away, ready for the freezer.)

The night was spent in the big recliner chair in the kitchen, for the most part, although I did have to get up and sit in a more upright chair for a while to ease the hip a bit. Slept from about 5.30 am until about 9, aided by painkillers. At least at the moment I can sit upright reasonably comfortably, so it's improving.

Vegetable soup (chicken stock) for breakfast.

For my 2nd meal I must try to make that sausage meatball and cabbage thing I was talking about yesterday.

No more cake making for a while (Neil missed several things off the shopping list on Thursday, including sugars - essential for cake making. I didn't put butter on the list and should have.)

Several days without Metformin and BG is a bit harder to control (especially if I eat things I shouldn't) but my insides are much more comfortable. So much so that I am considering trying a few nuts again. The walnut oil didn't help by the way.

I had written "At least you resisted!" but it's vanished... I'm not doing very well today!

Pressed post reply too soon! I'm glad you had a bit of sleep, and hope it improves quickly now.

We can remember the 2000s, when we just used the characters that were on the keyboard :D . for example like this
(<3) (<3)
....<3
. ../ \
I'm not sure if it looks like envy, but I was trying to draw hearts in eyes and hands at the mouth)
