looking at pumps - advice wanted

Hi Jeff - I cannot claim to know anything about the driving! But I had the same problem with nocturnal hypos and in the evening, every night! I slept through them and I would wake up with migraines and it was only when I invested in Freestyle Libre CGM (which I highly recommend for monitoring...

    Seasonal dosage increase

I always feel nervous too! I am on a pump now so it's much easier! But depending on how high they were I always tried an extra 2 or 3 every three days so you can give time for it to settle. Having to get used to it all over again on the pump and can't find a balance between hyper and hypo!

    Seasonal dosage increase

Good evening guys! This is not a concern, just a query. Last summer I noticed some AWFUL blood sugars and almost doubled my basal twice!!! It was assumed to be the end of my honeymoon as I had only been diagnosed for about 6 months then. However, I've noticed it again this year. Could this...

New to pumping - little anxious

Thanks for all your advice guys! The pain has stopped and insulin is delivering - trouble is my sugars are high anyway and my basal levels are definitely wrong, but I think the cannula is okay now. If there was a problem, what kind of levels would you expect?

    New pumper!

Hi Fergie - I started my 640 on Tuesday. Snap! Loving the injection free life already.

New to pumping - little anxious

Hey guys, I got my Medtronic MiniMed 640G on Tuesday so I'm very much still learning!!! I've just done my first set change on my own and I'm getting a bit paranoid. I'm sure everything this fine but there is a faint stinging feeling around my site. I was wondering if you can feel a kinked...

    New glargine

Went to bed on 8.7 and have woken up on 7.7!!!

    New glargine

I don't pay for prescriptions so I honestly don't know how much you would have to pay but my consultant told the GP on the phone that they were the same price - whether that's an NHS price only I'm not sure. There are 3 pens per pack. The consultant has told me to start on the same units and...

Feeling hot associated with high BG?

Hey Lucy - I know exactly what you mean! I notice that an hour or so after my breakfast I got very bad hot flushes. It can be quite embarrassing! I'm 18 so I'd hope this is not linked to menopause [emoji23] Since I've moved to a more low GI breakfast I've noticed that my sugars don't peak so...

    New glargine

Hey guys! I've just done my first injection of my new basal insulin!!! I was previously on Lanctus glargine (24 units) but I was experiencing horrific pain when injecting it and nocturnal hypos every night. My consultant prescribed this new insulin (he gets very excited by these things) and...

Doing Basal testing the simple way - a new, free, tool

Thanks Tim. This sounds amazing! I've been using the Freestyle Libre and discovered huge changes in insulin sensitivity. My DSN says I should have my pump by Easter now and we are looking for a date to get started. I'm going to look into NightScout. Do I need to be on a pump to use the...

    Hiccups!!!

@Juicyj @miahara @Nidge247 Thanks so much guys. I'm definitely gonna try this legs in the air thing and, if that doesn't work, I'll go to the GP. All your replys were great! Thanks a bunch [emoji5]

    Hiccups!!!

Hey guys, Just wondering if anyone else has serious problems with hiccups??? I get them so randomly and they'll sometimes last up to an hour. They often make me feel very sick and make it difficult to breathe. The NHS suggests that there is a link between diabetes and hiccups but gives little...

    Type 1 diabetes stigma

I don't know about you guys, but I am sick and tired of the comments I get when I tell people I am diabetic! "But you're not fat", "maybe you shouldn't have eaten so much sugar", "you love cake then?". We know the causes of type 1, but the lack of education on it and then stigma attached to the...

    Freestyle Libre First time User

Hi Martin! I've been using the Freestyle Libre since I was given a free starter pack by an Abbott rep at an education course at my hospital in the summer and I have since bought 12 sensors. It's been a godsend really and I've discovered nocturnal hypos that I never would have imagined I'd be...

    Feeling ill all the time

I'm a t1 and I've recently had some problems with hypos in the night and high sugars during the day. They've got better in the last week but I was really sick yesterday morning after being hypo during the night. I assumed it was something I ate and I felt better after but I'm feeling really sick...

    Misdiagnosis and Type 2

It's great to hear you're well and healthy now Sam! I was diagnosed t1 about 9 months ago. It was pointed out by my optician that my prescription was worsening rapidly. He suggested I see the GP. That morning, my blood sugars reached 39.5. I was diagnosed with t2 by a junior doctor whose...

    BGs rising without eating

Hey guys, I'm desperate for your help because my DSN is on holiday all week! My sugars have been high lately (between 7 and 10, sometimes up to 12 or even 16!) and I've been correcting generously using 1:2 but little has been changing. My sugars keep going up without me eating! Just an hour...

Trying to cut down on carbs

Thanks so much for the replies guys, you're all amazingly helpful. I've always carb counted with a ratio of 1:10 with novo rapid which is why I don't really understand why the hypos keep happening. I haven't ever thought about changing my basal (I take 16 units of lanctus glargine at 8 every...

Trying to cut down on carbs

Hi guys, Sorry for the ramble coming here! I've out on sooo much weight since I was diagnosed T1 6 months ago and I'm desperate to lose it for summer. I've just been through my AS exam period so during the last few weeks I've been eating a lot of high carb ready meals that I crave with...
