    Fed up

@nanabon in your shoes I would either write, or make an appointment with the Practice Manager, and explain how much this attitude grieves you. Ask that a note is added to your files about your condition too. My Practice Manager has been wonderful, so do please try it x

Will Birthday treats ruin my strong resolve?

You are spot on that it's the 'after' that concerns me. I am testing my resolve by doing this. I might find that I don't like any of those goodies after this length of time of course! Also I am going to dread testing my blood glucose levels when we return home. xx

Will Birthday treats ruin my strong resolve?

Awww Do you know I'm amazed at just how everyone 'gets it', in that it's to do something normal with my daughter. Yes she is worth the risk. Absolutely she is. She will want me to eat whatever she chooses and it will make her feel special even though it's MY birthday haha, but she can't leave...

Will Birthday treats ruin my strong resolve?

Ooh now that really sounds great! I keep imagining how an alcoholic can restrain from drinking for years and then one drink can take him/her straight back there. Not sure if it's the same with food but it IS an addiction! Thank you for your thoughts, and obviously you can really relate with your...

Will Birthday treats ruin my strong resolve?

Hello everyone. Bit of a quandary here. I've been in remission for the best part of three years, with an Ac1 of 36 and 7 at last two yearly appointments. My daughter and I have recently been through a terrible ordeal, which has resulted in her becoming unable to enjoy going out. She's 27 years...

Hi @MikeZ I also refused Statins, and my doctor suggested that I try Plant Sterols. I've been taking them for five years now :)

    Feeling optimistic!

Hi @Christafur and well done! I think the initial shock puts many of us into survival mode and we have a huge need to get the numbers down. After a while it's easy to become complacent and slide off track so be aware of this too. I had a couple of times where I put my health on the back boiler...

HBAC1 lulled me into a false sense of security! Help.

Wow I never knew this! I have always had just the one yearly check, right from onset in 2016!

    New to all of this

@Rushers Hi, and yes that's fine but you need to compare for a true answer. So you test before your next meal, and then two hours following that meal. It will tell you how much you spike during the food you eat, so that you know if it's okay for you. The spike should be no more than 2, so if...

    Pre-diabetic

All carbs, whether white or brown (wholemeal) turn to sugar in our bodies. THIS is how I learnt in the very beginning. I have been under diabetic blood glucose numbers just coming up to three years, thanks to knowing this x

    Just diagnosed

@Morningbird that's wonderful news and will inspire you to keep on the right path. Intermittent fasting really does help enormously. I usually don't eat before at least 11am when I have a light meal/snack of something like a tablespoon of Greek yogurt mixed with some chia seeds and a couple of...
