Any help would be appreciated keto diet

Just out of curiosity, I'd be interested to know more about your NAFLD. How do you know that you have it? Did you have symptoms? How was it diagnosed? What caused it? What treatments have been suggested to reverse it?

Hello there, welcome to the forum. Tell us more about your 'diet' - if you want to - and people might be able to offer some guidance. Also, do you know what your HbA1c result was?

    Hi everybody

I can’t help you with your Libre Link problem unfortunately but welcome to the forum anyway.

    Confused

I can't recall what the accuracy of the HbA1c tests are (maybe someone could comment) but the 41 and 47 numbers may in reality not have been as far apart as they seem. They both may have been around 44 so not necessarily showing a worsening over the four weeks. If you're doubting the validity of...

    Confused

I'd suggest that you got a CGM. You could maybe try getting the Libre 2 on the free trial. Have you got any previous HbA1c test results you could share with us (ie earlier than the 41 and 47)? What fruit do you eat and how often? What do you drink? Any alcohol? Do you think that you have...

Go on, admit it! We all checked that the & symbol shares a key with the number seven.

    Is there truth in this????

I'm guessing that the first paragraph of your post is you 'speaking' and the second and third are quotes, but it's a bit unclear. If you're still able to edit your post could you put some quotation marks in so it's a bit clearer. I happen to agree (with that bit at least).

Good call. To save anyone else from having to manually type it in like I just had to: www.hey.nhs.uk/wp/wp-content/uploads/2016/03/diagnosingDiabetes.pdf

    New to site

Your GP will probably add to your unease when your next blood test results come in. That's because your Total Cholesterol will very likely be much higher. But like I said, it means absolutely nothing - despite what your GP will try to have you believe. Mine's 8.4 and I couldn't care less. Not...

How was it established that you have NAFLD? Was it from a blood test (if so which one) or from the ultrasound scan? If that value of 5.5 is your Total Cholesterol then I would advise that you completely ignore it because it's meaningless. What, do you believe, is the root cause of your condition?

    Diabetes pharmacist and feeling frustrated

He sounds like a typical drug-pushing pharmacist. Don't forget that medical professionals are there to provide you with guidance and support. You don't have to take ANY of their 'advice', pills or whatever.

    Type 2 Audiobooks

I've just finished listening to: 'Ultra-processed People' by Dr Van Tulleken, and 'Metabolical' by Robert Lustig and whilst neither of them are specifically about low carb or diabetes (and they can get a bit 'tough going') I'd still recemmend that everyone listens to/reads them. Also,I've...

    Type 2 Cholesterol confusion!

Your Serum Cholesterol: TOTAL = 6mmol/L HDL = 1.5mmol/L Ratio of TOTAL to HDL = 6 to 1.5 (ie 4 to 1). Some people suggest that the lower that particular ratio the less likely a person is to have a heart attack.

New here and have a few questions please

Hello there, welcome to the forum. You come across as someone who has their head screwed on right and you've already taken some excellent first steps. I'm presuming that the blood test that was done at the hospital (and that came back at 8mmol/L) was done after an overnight fast? In addition to...

    First readings question

I feel sure that when I used a Libre 2 it only offered an estimated HbA1c once it had collected seven days worth of data. How have you got a value of 69 on the first day? Are you using a different App? Take advantage of your CGM's ability to show the value/time of the peak in addition to...

Newly (6 months ago) diagnosed - Going keto, Indian heritage, what to eat!

Sounds like you're very lucky to have those two supporting you because it's rare to hear about such excellent advice being given out by the NHS. If you're thinking about getting a blood glucose monitor then you might find it interesting to get one that will also take ketone test strips...

Low hba1c but glucose spikes. Does it matter?

In addition to the carbohydrate content, there are numerous other factors that can have a bearing on an individual's glucose response to a particular meal - such as activity level before/after and any possible residual effect from food intake earlier in the day. Fat and fibre content will modify...
