Hi I’m new to the site and thought I would post my story. I have read lots of different threads and found it really informative.
I went for a blood test and ultra sound scan in February due to pain in my kidney area. Kidneys came back fine but turned out I have non alc fatty liver disease and my Hba1c was 43 and cholesterol was 5.5. I have been put on the diabetes prevention course. I find this a bit useless to be honest. I have found the information on here to be much more useful.
I have found the different diets a bit of a struggle. My nurse at the doctors surgery told me to do low fat diet but through reading these forums I have discovered that low fat contains more sugar. I have decided to go down the low carb keto tyoe diet. I have lost over a stone since doing this. I have also tried the Libre freestyle two week trial and decided to go with the dexcom one instead for three months. This has been very interesting, if I have eaten any bread or potatoes I have watched my blood sugars jump high very quickly, this includes whole meal which apparently slows the rise. I am starting to get the hang of what is good to eat and what isn’t.
Most mornings I have full fat Greek yougurt and berries which I mix up with keto granola, Linwood ground flaxseeds or chia seeds or just the yougurt and berries. Lunch will be homemade soup and no bread or salad. Dinner will be chicken or any sort of meat with veg and maybe something fatty with cheese or coleslaw.
So my question is because at times I get confused.
Is a LCHF ok for someone with a fatty liver?
Any recommendations for a good site that doesn’t cost money for recipes that suits a prediabetic, just slightly high cholesterol and a fatty liver? I am using nutracheck to record my foods. Unfortunately when I put in a weatherspoons meal it didn’t count the carbs they just took the data from the menu. I have lost over a stone since February so I am doing something right but I am confused with all the data out there
