    Looking for friends

You mention being a Christian. Is it important to you to talk to other Christians, or will be people of any religion or none be equally acceptable? I ask as if you specifically want to talk to Christians you are limiting the pool of potential friends, even more so if you want those of a...

How do I get rid of diabetes?

I had accidentally given up drinking at home a couple of years before my T2 diagnosis. I do have a glass of wine or a beer if I'm out for a meal, which is less than once a month. I also usually have a pudding, as in a sugary one.

Don't forget beer! Most beer contains lots of carbs. :(

    Diet for Type 2 Diabetes

I'm astonished at the gym. I got to a local authority one which is regularly used by people in wheelchairs, and a number of the machines can cater for (e.g) paraplegics. It is a floor up but there is a lift, and also an accessible toilet just across the floor from the door in. Possibly because...

How do I get rid of diabetes?

You will always be diabetic, but cutting out sugar and (probably) most carbs from your diet will hopefully keep you in remission (e.g. with normal or pre-diabetic blood measure). The amount of weight you have lost will do you a lot of good. What is your current HbA1c?

    Reducing A1c

Unfortunately, IMHO there is quite a bit of machismo here about getting the numbers down. What I think matters is you make changes you can sustain in the long term - decades not months - that bring them down. You are getting there, and the advice to test before & 2 hours after a meal is good.

To simply record your levels, spreadsheets are quite good enough though maybe not easy if you don't have a tablet, laptop or PC.

Type 1 diabetes and its effect on relationships

I've not had a romantic relationship with a diabetic, but many years ago I did have two fairly close male friends who were T1. However both were difficult people, and combined with their approach to their T1 and life in general that killed the friendships. I went hill walking in the Yorkshire...

Testing meter not working could it be cold weather?

It would have to be colder in your flat than it is outside for that to affect the batteries in your meter. Agree with @EllieM , ask the manufacturer. AFAIK, It's also possible you have a batch of faulty test strips if this behaviour coincides with using a new pack.

    Reducing A1c

That's fine, just keep on as you are. You should get a blood test every 3 months. If you don't receive an appointment, ring the surgery.

    Husband just diagnosed, reassurance needed

How is your hubby's HbA1c? That gives a reflection of average levels over the past 10-12 weeks. And I second him joining for himself, though maybe he doesn't feel he can at present. It took me a few weeks to join and many more weeks to do more than look from 'behind the sofa'. The diagnosis can...

Just Got my Casual "Oh your blood test showed prediabetes"

Yes it's dangerous, and it's rare in T2 especially those not on insulin. You are not diabetic - you might be pre-diabetic. Stop scaring yourself.

A glitch in the matrix or something to be concerned over

Guidelines are to not diagnose from 1 result. This test is just incase the previous one was a glitch, not to see if the op has changed his lifestyle enough

Just Got my Casual "Oh your blood test showed prediabetes"

Liver has B12 and A. It doesn't have the other B vitamins. Vitamin A is fat soluble and it's possible to overdose on it. The NHS website says "liver and liver products such as liver pâté – this is a particularly rich source of vitamin A, so you may be at risk of having too much vitamin A if you...
