Is it normal to have normal readings so soon after being diagnosed?

I've been on Metaformin (2 x 1000mg daily) for over a week now and my glucose levels almost look like a non diabetics? Is this normal? I have gone on a low carb diet, but have had the odd beer, and a roast potato on occasion! The small piece of birthday cake is the only sweet thing I have had...

4 days of glucose monitoring.. what to make of it?

I've been testing for over four days now, and my levels are a bit random So far I've learnt I can't eat brown pasta, red wine seems ok and berries cause a mild spike! My HbA1c was 72 last week when diagnosed. (approx 9 mmol/l?)

Lost nearly 2kg (about 4½ lbs?) this week compared to last week, so must be doing something right. Although reading when I woke up was 9mmol/l, will check in two hours. Just had eggs, turkey rashers, sausage and mushrooms for breakfast. Also one post I mentioned I was on insulin, I am not. I...

Hi, I am sorry to hear your story. I am sure someone else will be along soon to offer some advice, however I would recommend you edit your post to hide your real names. Daniel

Just Diagnosed... Assume I am Type 2 and Hello!

Just been looking at booze, quite shocking how bad beer is! :( Maybe a crafty glass of red, that is it! Otherwise slimeline and gin/vodka. Edit: The red wine is for a large glass, not a bottle.

Just Diagnosed... Assume I am Type 2 and Hello!

Thanks for your replies. I think I will struggle with breakfast for a while, as I am used to filling up first thing. But today for breakfast I have just had 2 mini babybels and a handful of almonds, but I've left my tester at home! doh!

Just Diagnosed... Assume I am Type 2 and Hello!

Evening all, I initally went to the doctor with groin pains and after ruling out a hernia he sent me for blood tests, and referred me for an ultrasound. A few days later the results came back and the results were fine except there was an HbA1c of 72 mmol! I was sent for another blood test and...
