is it possible to build up with a protein diet with diabetes?

Oh dear... This isn't going to end well.

    Taking pre-meal readings only

Well, the insulin you take won't have any immediate effect on your blood sugar, and I am not aware of anyone suggestion to change basal insulin based on an acute high/low so there is no need to worry about that part. That could suggest that you don't need bolus insulin - BG of 15 in the morning...

    Do you dose for quinoa

I'd really love to hear your "reasoning" for this: if a meal makes your BG go up by zero point five mmol/l (e.g. Your BG two hours after eating might be 5-5.5 mmol/l) then how do you "seriously Need to take insulin"? Your postprandial BG is well below any target (<7.8 mmol/l) so unless you are...

    Abbott meter recall/ reissue

If you go rummaging blindly through your kitchen then it's quite easy to cut yourself with a big knife... Your point being? The ketone strips are differently coloured, differently labelled, take much longer to process and the result is labelled with "ketone" on screen and when you scroll back...

    Tattoo yes or no ?

I have been told by a tattoo artist that wrist tattoos are not viable (because squeezing the required text into the size of a wristwatch wouldn't remain legible) - my first idea had been a "tattooed-on medic alert bracelet". If you want something like this you probably have to keep it very...

DAFNE experience - the good and the bad!

That's because the idea is to Adjust your insulin Dose to Normally Eat rather than to adjust your diet - it's in the even in the acronym; and you are free to apply the DAFNE techniques to whatever you want to eat. Your criticism is about as intelligent as saying evolution is and because it...

    Portion control.

So, you are just going to ignore all the evidence and continue to assert that you are right? Fair enough, I won't bother to reply to you again.

Constant Glucose Monitor - Possible Breakthrough

I don't see how this is a breakthrough - it may be a bit smaller than a CGM, and a bit cheaper (hopefully but that's really an incremental improvement. Also, it no need do calibration was mentioned, which is interesting.

    Portion control.

The point is that using a smaller plate will make you want to eat less I.e. using a larger plate will result in you eating more whilst feeling just as sated as someone using a smaller plate. http://foodpsychology.cornell.edu/outreach/large-plates.html

    Half units

I suspect that prt of the problem is that the half unit pens are more marketed as paediatric devices which the doctor in question may not necessarily be considering/aware of unless he's paediatric endocrinologist.

Why does glicazide [is this a sulphonurea?] cause you to put on weight?

As mentioned above, they increase insulin production by the pancreas to reduce blood glucose levels whereas Metformin works mostly by reducing endogenous glucose production in the liver (t2 diabetics produce 2-3x more glucose than healthy subjects).

    Cabin crew

You are wrong; as of Aug 2012 diabetics, including t1s treated with insulin, have been allowed to fly commercial aircraft. What you describe rather sounds like unlawful discrimination

    Type 2 Juice plus

That doesn't exactly make me more likely to trust them. Juice Plus makes a number of other things (e.g. dehydrated vegetable/fruit capsules) so it might be helpful to specify the product in greater detail. About the Juice Plus complete, it does strike me as odd that the fruit/vegetable powder...

    People with CGM

Good for you, but as I said neither the adhesive the Navigator sensors (which I had used) nor stuff you can get in a small pharmacy will last very long when exposed to water for a prolonged time. I'm not even sure where you can get the brand you mentioned in the UK

    People with CGM

The sensor may be waterproof but the adhesive certainly isn't; I had to use lots of Elastoplast to keep it in place for the lifetime of the sensor.

    Abbott meter recall/ reissue

I've received a ADC FA1002-2014 (presumably because I used a Freestyle Navigator years ago); since I hadn't been using the device anymore I ignored it and Abbot responded by sending me 8x Freestyle glucose test strips. I've yet to hear back from them if they want those back, or if I they could...

    Pancreas Transplant

I think you are confusing an islet cell transplant (islet cells are harvested and infused via liver portal vein) with a pancreas transplant (pancreas is removed, and a donor pancreas is implanted - frequently done at the same time as a kidney transplant). In both cases you'll need to be taking...

Is an HbA1C of 110 not good?

You are using the US BG ( mg/dl) to UK/Europe BG (mmol/l) converter which only works for your current BG as shown by your meter.

    FreeStyle Glucose Test Strip Recall???

Ah yes, that makes sense - I did use a Navigator years ago. Cheers.

    Half units

What are the concrete advantages that justify using a vastly more complicated delivery system? Sure, there are theoretical advantages like the ability to mix insulin if you need a very low doses but none of that applies here. That's why you can get insulin in vials for use in syringes. The...
