    Intemetent drop in sugar level

Hei, welcome to the forums. Don’t think we are allowed to offer ‘medical’ advice.. and I think changing your basal insulin would come under that. But if you have gone from sofa surfing to gym bunny, then yes you are probably going to need less insulin. When I noticed my waking blood sugar...

    sweet option

If you’re making it yourself you can cut down on the bread, sugar and dried fruit and step up the egg mixture, to cut down the carbs. Maybe consider making an individual portion? If somebody else is making it/has made it, then a small portion? Well that’s this evening’s pudding sorted out!

    Confusing diabetes

Don’t have type 3 but wondering, as a type 1, if your long acting insulin dose is set correctly? Am assuming you have a CGM? I was advised what my waking CGM reading should be and adjusted my dose accordingly. But we’re not allowed to advise medicine doses here, so maybe discuss with your endo...

Test Strip Use whilst on a CGM

Just been switched to Libre 3+ and very seldom finger prick. Keep my glucometer with me when I go out, in case the CGM stops working.. or falls off, and to do a more accurate glucose reading when driving. Used to finger prick at the swimming pool, but just rely on the CGM reading when I do...

    I don't know what I'm doing

Hei @lizcoop , agree with what others have said that you need to prioritise yourself for at least part of your days, or maybe weeks at the moment. A diagnosis of Type 1 is a lot to get your head round , all by itself. On diagnosis, nearly 3 years ago at age 68, I was fortunate enough to have...

    Phones for Abbots Freestyle Libre

Just switched from Android, Huawei P60, which I had a love hate relationship with, but it was no bother running the Libre Freestyle app for the Libre 2. Had to remember to put it on charge every night, and thought it might be on its last legs, it is over 5 years old. We actually bought a Samsung...

Type 1 Tresiba help please anyone

First of all a big fat virtual hug. I use tresiba and novorapid. You need to be patient with the tresiba. Don’t know how you think about your insulins and food and exercise. Insulin and exercise bring sugar level down, food, especially carbs push it up. For me tresiba is my ‘background’ insulin...

    Burn Out

hei @Carpe Diem , I too am on Tresiba and novo rapid. Was only diagnosed 2 and a half years ago and amongst all the advice I was given in hospital was to make sure my bs was 6 before I went to bed, and 8 if I had taken alcohol. Used finger sticks for first few weeks and was aiming to have bs...

    Changing from Levemir to ?

Another vote here for Tresiba. Can’t remember which long acting I was on at first diagnosis, 2 and half years ago, but various nurses and doctors kept saying I would be put on something more steady acting. The one I was on , I took it in the mornings, would only start to work at lunch time and...

    Novapen 6

Maybe think of it the other way round and do it from the Libre app. i have two Novo plus pens that were working wonderfully with Libre .2, got switched to Libre 3 , which is a different app and the opportunity to connect a pen or pens has gone. It should be in the main menu, below the reports...

    BS levels and infection

Wondering if you are getting enough basic nutrients to heal your wound..enough proteins, calories and whatever else is needed to build new tissue? Is your appetite OK? Maybe eat more meals and get enough rest? Give your body a chance to heal itself. Research what foods are best to help in...

    Treating lows

I use the small boxes of juice, with attached straw, not the easiest thing to carry round when running or walking, stuck one in pocket of husband’s jacket last week when we were going to a pantomime. The problem with those is that you often get a nice sticky fountain when you insert the straw...

    Libre Plus 2

As far as I can make out there shouldn’t be a problem using a Libre 2 or Libre 2 plus. The plus seems to mean that it lasts an extra day. my health authority just switched my sensors from Libre Freestyle 3 to Libre Freestyle 3 plus and everything is working the same, apart from the plus last 15...

    Newly diagnosed and totally overwhelmed

Hei Emma, the DAFNE course is something run by the Health Service in the UK to inform people with Type 1 diabetes about the condition and how to manage carbohydrates intake. There is a parallel one for people with Type 2 I understand. I am a Brit living in Norway, diagnosed here and went on a...

Meal Time Insulin Doesn’t Seem To Be Working!!!

Any chance the insulin could have ‘spoiled’. I think most fast acting is only good for a month out of the fridge. I seem to remember one of the insulins I was on needed to be , not exactly shaken, but tipped from end to end in the pen, can’t remember if a long acting or a fast one. as Antje77...

Non-diabetics telling me how easy it is!

understand and feel your frustration. yep sure is if you have a fully functioning pancreas!! I first read about non diabetics wearing CGMs a couple of years ago, still not sure it’s a good idea, except as you say to make people potentially headed for type 2 be more aware of food intake and...

    Newly diagnosed and totally overwhelmed

Sorry you have to cancel your holiday, can you not claim on holiday insurance? I kept asking the medics if I could go on my holiday so soon after diagnosis, and they kept just saying yes, yes, until one day one of the doctors thought to ask where I was going… pretty sure if it had been somewhere...

    Newly diagnosed and totally overwhelmed

« I know children deal with this etc but I'm just struggling. Anyway, that's it. If anyone has words of encouragement that would be nice :)» Sending many words of encouragement - was diagnosed at 68, while still teaching. You will get through this and in a couple of years time will look back and...

How am I able to get help and be taken seriously

«At work yesterday I had a bad hypo, which terrified me as well as scaring my work colleagues as they never saw me like that before. It’s took ages to bring my sugars up because I was crying not wanting to eat anything.» Every time I have a hypo it’s a big surprise and I get a bit panicky, so I...

Have I missed something about blood glucose control for type 2 diabetes?

Couple of random thoughts, that may help, are you drinking enough fluids? Preferably water. Alternately if you are taking drinks of fruit juice, or sugary squash or fizzy pop…they will up your levels big time. Some form of exercise or movement will put your levels down. I understand post meal...
