    Paleo Food Pyramid

That looks like what I'm doing, except, the veggies would be the biggest base layer followed by the meat layer. What does Paleo stand for ... sorry , this is new to me. Cath N

Help with quitting smoking - no help with quitting carbs

Sorry Mr.Bonkers - I should have said "quitting some carbs" or "reducing carbs" and there are plenty of reasons to do that. That was my point - not the wholesale ditching of all carbohydrates. Just having it acknowledged by the NHS that too much can cause complications would be a step in the...

Help with quitting smoking - no help with quitting carbs

It seems to me that the NHS would never advise a smoker to continue smoking ( i.e doing something that is a direct threat to their health ) until the effects are beginning to manifest.... a smokers cough, hardening of the arteries, bronchitis, emphysema, thrombosis, stroke, lung and throat...

bread how much should you eat with a meal?

Hi !! Bread is a very personal matter!!! I have managed to wean myself off the idea that bread is eaten at every meal - and now I have an occasional 1/2 a slice. But I have to be careful which bread I eat. Bread will spike your blood glucose ( cause it to rise quickly ). Do you have a meter...

    Help me please

Best wishes for a very speedy recovery. If your very sound reasoning doesn't wash with the nurses, you can, I think, just dig your heels in and refuse to co-operate. Not ideal, but it might come to that. When I read your story - you posted it a while ago - I was amazed at what you'd been...

    Over Carbed

I'm gob smacked!!! But yes, as you say, when you have radically changed the way in which you eat and then return to the past a little bit, it is amazing how horrible you can feel. I reckon your painful stomach is probably due to that carb cocktail ! - the bloating definitely. Impressed with your...

    Over Carbed

Roy Blackpool is where I was born and lived until I left home and came South!! Ahhh - the lights .... your post made me full of nostalgia. lowering cholesterol without drugs

Thank you all for such informative replies. I am unaware of my triglycerides - so that is something I can ask the GP about. My HDL is really high - my overall cholesterol is 5 - LDL 2.8 which is on the 'RED" borderline. Luckily I am already eating almond porridge for breakfast which includes...

    Great snack find in M&S

Did the Siam on Fire recipe but with some sockeye salmon fillets that I had in. The sockeye is wild so very tasty and it was not overpowered by the other ingredients. It was lovely. Thank you Sid Bonkers.
