My wife just made a Banana Loaf, full sugar and flour goodness. Smells amazing... just like my mum used to make. That unfortunatley upset me a little as my mum passed away about 8 years ago. The smell and thought of being good and not having any, then thought of my mum, all got to me a bit........

Not good timing, as new baby is due in 5 weeks, so thought about mum and dad (passed away about 3 years ago) not being here for that, then mum not seeing my little boy (4 years old), did not see my get married either. I hate moments like that.

Anyway, ok now and no did not give in and have some, though thats really hard.

Awww bless, your Mum was a special lady, she brought you into the world, and I can tell she did a pretty good job raising you, she lives on you know, in your heart, in your children, in your new baby, I have sent you a PM, a little story that I find very comforting when I think of loved ones I have lost.

All the best to you and your family and hope all goes well with the new baby
Thinking of you

Hi, yeah I am going to, though it was more a memory thing, but intend to make all the great stuff here :D

Your Mum and Dad will live on in your new baby. They are part of you and your child.

Foods and smells can be very poignant reminders of the past. I totally empathise with your reaction.

Can't believe you didn't have a tiny taste!!

My wife took it I work today and left a slice for my little boy, I must confess to having a small qtr (size if a custard cream) of it just to taste I did use a generous blob of butter (would normally have done that anyway) I waited for a low BG level 5.8 before having it :D

I had some banana loaf when on holiday and it shot my figures up. At home I make banana loaf with banana flavouring, much kinder on the old BG.

I know what you mean about things reminding you of Mum. Mine passed away about 6 years ago and I still think "Oh, mum would like this" when I'm in the supermarket and see something different from the usual. I inherited a love of cooking from her and my sone still talks about Nana Mary when he's cooking. Good luck for the birth of the new baby.

Hi Bio,

Well done for not giving in  I know how you feel re the baby and your Mum and Dad. My Mum was not here to see me married or to see my son. Also My Nana ( the lady who raised me from 7yrs old ) had died when I was 22 weeks preggers. I would have loved for them to have been a part of it. I try where possible to tell my son a little about them and will expalain more when he is older. So lovely that your baby will soon be here. :)
