    Me again sorry!

Absolutely understand what you're saying re GPs and medical people jumping on easy-to-dismiss issues. We've had this a fair bit since we moved here and this is what's putting husband off going near them. But I don't like being in charge of his diet with his health probs. Will give them a phone...

    Me again sorry!

Husband type 2, aged 77, been diagnosed since 2008, never been on meds, always diet controlled. Let things slide this year but now back on track and getting his numbers down. Both of us doing Bernstein (cos its easier than cooking separate meals), - started on it around the middle of August...

    Steroids and blood sugar

I'm not diabetic, my hubby is. But I've got Addisons Disease and am on life long steroids to keep me alive. I often test myself to see what's going on, and I'm usually up in the high 6s which isn't normal for a non-diabetic. It's the steroids. You'll be fine once you finish yours Daffy xx

Type 2 readings - what is ok and what isn't?

That's great to hear Ian, many thanks and I've passed this on to him. We find Bernstein generally agrees with us, as long as I dont go overboard on the fats.

Type 2 readings - what is ok and what isn't?

All of his readings are in the 7s now. We test 4 times a day after meals. Used to be around 9 -11 so it has improved a lot. Diet is Bernstein.

Type 2 readings - what is ok and what isn't?

Husband diagnosed 2008 and still diet-controlled. Had a bypass a couple of years ago. He wants to keep his BG lower because the practice nurse told him high BG readings will affect his heart. They are pushing him to start Metformin but he doesn't want to. His current readings now are around 7.0...

    What's putting his BG up?

Got frozen rasps and blueberries added to the Sainsbugs order for this week. Will give him a handful every day with his yoghurt and cream.

He does seem to be settling back into the high 7s/low 8s again so this must be what's happened. THANKS EVERYBODY! :)

    What's putting his BG up?

Well that's true, he is tired today. Thanks HSSS, maybe next time try 2 slices of the bread and no fruit. get a better idea that way.

    What's putting his BG up?

Husband been doing ok, has got his readings down from 10-12 to high 7s. But today he had an 8.8 . He had supper of 4 small slices of LC bread with cheese then 5 cherries + some blueberries (frozen fruit) in double cream.

Following this Ian, my hubby is the same although I'm stuffing green veg into him as well as meat.

Stornoway bp is fabulous, pity it's so high in carbs. Maybe for his xmas brekkie treat :D

    Black Pudding?

That was the problem, we get our meat etc from local butcher and there are no labels, just slices.
