Does low carbing improve insulin sensitivity?

Thanks, that is what I was trying to get her to understand, they are two different beasts.

    Have I broken my monitor?

That's the meter I use. The gold end goes into the meter and the grey end 'sucks' blood off your finger. Maybe you have a faulty meter. I would return it to the pharmacy when you can, sometimes these things happen.

Does low carbing improve insulin sensitivity?

You do realise that this site is NOT Diabetes UK? Nothing I have read here leads me to believe that this site wants people to remain diabetic. I think you have things a tad confused.

    Newly diagnosed

If you are eating beans and potatoes you are not eating low carb. And definitely no grains. Most of us follow a Low Carb High Fat diet and keep our carbs to under 50gm per day (some even lower). Read some of the other threads, especially the low carb diet threads, they have great ideas of...

Advised to reuse lances? Is that right?

I think I am on my third lancet since October. Test multiple times a day and no problems here. When they are $20 for 100, which would only last me roughly 2 weeks, I am not changing everytime. Also, just because the manufacturer says they are single use, doesn't mean that is true. They want...

    Sore finger joints

Can anybody give me some clues as to why the joints in my hands are sore, really sore. Is it too much water, not enough water, too much protein, old age or something else. I take one Metformin 500mg daily, eat LCHF, have lost around 14 pounds this year. No idea what's going on, any suggestions?

Healthy Eating guide from Diabetes Australia

It might be for healthy eating in general, but I took it straight from the Diabetes Australia website, so it's safe to assume that others looking for advice on how to eat 'diabetic' will think that this is the way to eat.

Healthy Eating guide from Diabetes Australia

Just stumbled upon this helpful guide following links from the Diabetes Australia facebook page. Unbelievable the rubbish they are telling people to eat - no wonder we are getting sicker and sicker as a nation...

    Statins, yes or no?

Just because the prescribe statins, doesn't mean you have to take them, if you are still unsure. Ask for another 3 months, if they refuse, take the prescription but don't get it filled. Impose your own 3 month wait and then go for another test and see what the results say.

    Worrying Facebook Post

I am in Australia and not part of the NDSS, so I am paying $50 for 100 test strips. Yeah it's tough. And unfair.

Why won't we tell Diabetics the truth?

You know what, if WE can use the internet and do research, why on earth can't our health professionals??

    New Year Resolutions!

Oh that would send me to the poor house. I am paying around $20 per 100. I just change them when they are feeling blunt, usually around once a week.

    New Year Resolutions!

I will be joining you in this Tipetoo - too many extra bits the last month or so and over Christmas and tomorrow is back to work and back to the LCHF diet. I need to be more organised with my food and also my testing. Here's to a great 2017

Diabetes Expo 2017 in Melbourne Australia

This just popped up on my FB feed - http://campaign.diabetesvic.org.au/Expo. The speakers look sort of OK, though one is just a GP local to me. Not impressed with the food menu though, pita, sourdough, couscous, muffins, wraps, sushi. etc. There are a couple of salads though they are quite...

T2 Low Carb Breakfast on the Go ideas

Breakfast was what I was finding difficult too. I am up at 4am, and not only do I not feel like cooking bacon and eggs, but I really don't want to wake the household. I wasnt a breakfast eater before Diabetes, but did what I was told and started with a low carb cereal and a bit of yoghurt...
