    Oh Well.....

Whooah.... Like I have said before, I do feel a bit of a fraud and moaning Minnie when I bang in a ' high' figure ( to me) and then someone trumps it with a really high figure. It does put things in perspective and I wish you well. Sent from the Diabetes Forum App

    Oh Well.....

Cheers and to you too. Just done a 12 hour fast and banged in a 7.4! That is so strange...I repeated it and got a 7.6 so it's likely to be accurate. I can only assume that I'm dumping stuff out if my liver and will probably up my dose to 2 x 500mg a day and see what happes. Sent from the...

    Oh Well.....

Now only testing once/twice a day tops. Banged in a 5.6 tonight and am doing a 12 hour fast and would hope that this is in the region of 5. Had 63g of carbs today and 630 kcals, with about 50 presses on the multigym. I've had zero nasty carb cravings today, very weird! Sent from the Diabetes...

    Another newbie....

This is good news Neil, though how was your HBA1C? My fasting was bang on and the GTT normal, albeit the high side of normal for the latter - but my last HBA1C was double where I should be. Sent from the Diabetes Forum App

    "Newcastle" Diet

Re: "Newcastle" Diet That is extremely encouraging and of great interest. I'm doing something similar ( though i have slipped off the chocolate wagon, so I'm starting again), with a calorie input of around 6 to 800 a day. I know one and of another who have gone through the mill when using...

    Another newbie....

Hi Neil, You are being perfectly reasonable to not opt for metformin, though it can help with blood pressure/ cholesterol and weight loss. Diet and exercise alone could possibly be the best option, I've opted for all 3, though I took up metformin voluntarily. My advice would be to have a read up...

    Can't stop thinking about diabetes

My advice with metformin is to take it during a meal..by that I mean, eat half your meal. Swill it down with a glass of water, then take the med. Then continue with your meal. If you follow the newcastle diet, you could possibly reverse your condition but once diagnosed you are a diabetic...

    Oh Well.....

I've just banged in a 3.9 after dinner. I didn't believe it so, did another test.. That was a 6.4... I then did another and that came in at 5.7. The 6.4 involved a bit if facing about and probably yet more squeezing... I really need another Vlad and one that will puncture my forearms, as my...

    Oh Well.....

I will have a go at hitting the mid 4's but...with my meter...that would be a high 3. My calorie input is back under control as is my "attitude". Weekends are notoriously bad for me, it goes back to me being a kid and having hot roast chicken on crusty cobs when in from the " big shop" with my...

    Oh Well.....

Yep... You are totally right. I did it again last night...but did have some pizza which probably helped to set it off. The agreement now is that if I get this stupid urge that I have some porridge. That said, I still banged in a 8 this morning, which isn't too bad...and would have been happy...

    Test strip control solution...

Hi, My control reading for my latest batch of strips (5.5 to 8.4) came in at 6.5. This is definitely the lowest that I have had before, typically they come in at a shade over 7. The question is this, what effect ( if any) would these strips have on my BG results? My gut feeling is that they will...
