Diabetes Nurse Worried I Would Get Bored...

Being the 'nurse', she probably didn't allow 'fats' in the house, telling him to limit carbs AND still limiting FATS!!! No wonder he could have been hungry ;)

    Videos re Freestyle Libre

I've just found this site which has a number of videos regarding using the Libre. I apologise if it's been posted before but I couldn't find any reference to it This video is regarding Type 1 but I think people with Type 2 should be able to gain from watching too...

Monthly allowance for healthy food suggested to help tackle type 2 diabetes rates

Handing out money to buy 'healthy' food will just mean more 'beer' to many and they will argue it's 'healthy' as made from fresh crops, full of vitamins etc!!! Can't see NHS having the funds, nor can I see this being viable in any shape or form. As indicated above, also open to misuse/abuse of...

    Eye test

@Jordi Do you do anything to help your eyes dilate before you get to the test? Does lack eye drops have any impact on the efficiency of the test, ie does it cause the images to be less quality than with the drops ... ??? Thanks

@Goonergal If you use Facebook, there is a 'Dexcom and Libre rash' group which might be of help I'm only a bit sensitive to sticky plasters etc, although curremtly OK with Libre, and on the occassions I've wanted to protect the sensor with RockTape / Tegaderm etc, I've taken a Cetirizine...

Cut finger still oozing blood 14 hours later

Generally, the best thing to do for oozing / bleeding wounds is to wrap a pressure bandage around it and then DO NOT REMOVE the pressure dressing. ;) If it then shows signs of bleeding / oozing through the pressure bandage, then apply ANOTHER, on top but still not removing the original...

Fasting Blood Glucose after previous day's food ...

A (pre-diabetes) friend has asked me, today, why her blood glucose level was unexpectedly [this morning] low after the previous [y'day] day's higher carb food consumption. I couldn't think why, so I thought I'd ask here "Don't understand ... yesterday had a rubbish day food wise, ate lots...

    Libre Sensor Issues

Hi @lmsk Abbott claim the sensors will remain stuck to the skin while swimming etc so I suggest it's worth contacting them and explaining what's happening. Don't be surprised if they come up with a variety of excuses indicating they don't want to take responsibility. However, keep calm and...

    Carbs

To be honest, I think you've actually got a reasonable GP. Most tell you the Eatwell plate is your aim in life, including 1/3 of carbohydrates!!! I suspect your GP is very aware of the bad advice given but feels s/he must be careful when going against the 'taught' diet for people with diabetes...

    Great Desmond Course and Coping

@Courts_12 You've been given some excellent advice in the previous posts. Testing your blood glucose levels, both before and a couple of hours after each meal will be incredibly informative as to what foods your body can cope with and those your body doesn't cope with. It will help you, also...

    LIBRE WOES

Hi @masonbason63 Sorry to hear you're having problems with your sensor. Unfortunately, Abbott are closed over the weekends/Bank Holidays but you can contact them on Monday and, once you've explained, I feel pretty sure they'll send you another out. They will want the faulty sensor to be sent...

    Libre users.. help!

I wear mine on the upper, slightly inside of mid-line, thigh and find it as accurate (and as comfortable) as anywhere else. Yes, I need to be careful when pulling down jeans/underpants but, fingers crossed, have got into the habit of not ripping it off.
