    Data Nerdery and recording

Hi. I have recently been using a Freestyle Libra sensor and am a bit confused with the morning readings. I tested on waking and levels had been between 4.5 and 5.3 throughout the night by the time I'd had a shower and tested again before breakfast it was 7.9!! This is on the high side for me...

    Data Nerdery and recording

I use Mysugr and myfitnesspal they seen to complement each other quite well. I also eat a ketogenic diet and this seems to work for me. I'm about to be given a Freestyle Libre monitoring system so it will be interesting to see my readings from that.

    Pump info please.

Hi. Are there any patch pumps available yet that stick to your skin rather than need to be hooked on a belt? I've not used a pump and it hasn't been suggested to me by my diabetes team so I don't even know if I'd qualify (T1 with last hbA1c of 50, 52yrs old and work full time) Thanks [emoji258]

Type 2 Carbs And The Doctor/dn

My DN told me well done, you're setting a good example. Then told me never to go to bed with BM reading lower that 7. ***!! I haven't been out of 4's or 5's since my second week of keto and I'm not changing now.

    Basal Vs Bolus

I take my Lantus at 10pm and as I am eating a Ketogenic diet I generally don't need any Novarapid during the day. Works for me but it's not for everyone [emoji171]

Nurse Told Me Not To Self Test Sugars Til I Am 3 Months In?

You can get a free monitor that does both glucose and ketones (ketone strips are expensive tho. I test ketones once a week) from spirit.healthcare.co.uk Anyone who takes steps to reduce carbs to get their diabetes under control should be encouraged to do so [emoji171]

I use pro along with lchf diet and it's definitely worth paying the extra.

    Monitoring App

I like mysugr if you know yr carb to unit ratio it takes the guess work of how much insulin to take if you program it properly. Think it's aimed more at kids but I'm a big kid at heart anyway.

    Changing My Career

I quit my full time care job in March and now work in a busy pub and our local B&M. I used to have quite a sedentary lifestyle but now I can walk 10 miles in one shift at the pub. I've lost 50lbs and my sugar levels are near perfect plus I've never been happier. Do what you want to do.

    having trouble understanding

I'm T1 and have been keto since January. I have not had a single hypo. My bms are usually in the 4 - 6 readings and I've been able to reduce my Lantus by half and occasionally I don't need to take my Novarapid at all. I monitor everything on mysugr and myfitnesspal. It works for me and I...

When my mum had UTI her behaviour changed drastically. It ranged from her being a school teacher to when she was in hospital she thought she given birth and we had stolen her baby. It was very traumatic for us all. Make sure you take the whole course of antibiotics and go back to yr GP if it...

Higher blood sugar in the morning

Thanks Juicyj that gives me hope. The libre looks great but way out of my finances I'm afraid. I'll just keep having sore fingers lol

Higher blood sugar in the morning

Hi Juicyj. That's a good idea I shall do that. BM before bed have been from 5.3 - 5.9 and in the morning around 6.9. Still not high I know but I'm eating Keto and have dropped my hbA1c from 8.7 to 6.2 in a few months. I just don't want to be having hypos without realising. I shall set my...

    Writing BG Management App

Mine too Andy. I use mysugr app and it has print outs or I can send it to my DN. It also tells me how much insulin to take based on how many carbs I'm eating.
