Can a diabetic eat boiled eggs?

I do like eating eggs, but I always get the feeling I'm going to throw up for several hours afterwards (I've never actually done it though!)

    Holidays

I thought I was in the lucky position of going to Turkey for 10 weeks in May, but now I'm trying to control my T2 with diet, I really wish I wasn't going. The ex pat lifestyle isn't geared up for low carb. Although being there for so long we won't eat out every night, I can hardly think of a...

    T2 diet

I take Lansoprazole too. My Dr told me to take it first thing in the morning and I can eat breakfast straight away, if I want to.

    My newbie story so far

I looked at the full fat plain yoghurts in the supermarket yesterday and thought "nah, I'll just do without" :(

    My newbie story so far

I've been doing LCHF for about 3 weeks, the first week I just cut out all the usual culprits, rice, potato etc. Then I bought "The 8 week blood sugar diet recipe book" by Clare Bailey and for the last 2 weeks I've been following that religiously. 10 days ago I got my Tee2 monitor. My fbg was...

    Support .. what support?!!!

I can only agree. My Dr told me on 21st Feb "your fasting blood sugar was 13, you're diabetic, you need to make an appt with the diabetic nurse" and that was the only information she gave me (to be honest I was seeing her about something else). My appointment with the diabetic nurse is NEXT...

    Sight test

I was due for a routine sight test and I could tell my glasses were no good as I could see just as well without them as with them. I told the optician I had been diagnosed with diabetes last month. "Are you on any medication?" "Not yet as my appointment with the diabetic nurse isn't until...

    Got my monitor yesterday

You'd better watch out then :) My results yesterday were: on waking 9.3, went for a walk and 2 hours after brekkie it was 6.9 :), before lunch 6.9, after 8.7, before dinner 8.4, after 11.9. So a good start then went downhill. I had chilli with cauliflower rice and a yoghurt, for my evening...

BG much improved already but feel exhausted

I'm the opposite. I have so much energy I don't know what to do with myself. I wish I'd cut out all those carbs ages ago (even disregarding the diabetes) I hope you feel better soon

    Got my monitor yesterday

Thanks, that's a good idea. I assumed the morning fasting one was an indicator of generally going up or down, but I can see where you are coming from. I'm not sure if I should be talking to you, as you are a dog and I'm a cat but you've been more help to me than the NHS!

    Got my monitor yesterday

I didn't say it very clearly but I did mean testing before and two hours after meals. Sadly I don't have inexhaustable funds to be able to do this everyday. I can see there's nothing to be gained by randomly testing at different times of the day.

    Got my monitor yesterday

Did a test this morning - 9.3, down from 13.1 on diagnosis :) I'm planning on testing throughout today and then just do mornings for a while to see how it goes. Does that sound like a plan? My mother was diabetic and many years ago she used to test our blood to see if we had inherited her...

Wish I had found this forum earlier.

One of my favourite lunches is sliced courgette toasted with cheese on top. I can almost convince myself it's cheese on toast :)

    I found out my HbA1c

Thanks. I'll ask about that next time. Happily when I was weighed at the time of the blood test I had lost 10lbs since last time and my BMI is now in the normal range. If they give me metformin will I qualify for free prescriptions? Or is that just insulin dependent diabetics? Just curious.

    I found out my HbA1c

I already have patient access but there's no where I can see on there to find my test results. I can order repeat prescriptions, but my surgery has even disabled the option to make an appt on line.

    I found out my HbA1c

I have posted before about the fact that my Dr told me I was diabetic and has left me for a month before I see the diabetic nurse. I thought the Dr told me my fasting blood was 13 but she didn't mention HbA1c and I didn't know enough to ask what it was. I went along this afternoon and saw the...

    stupid me!

I got my tee2 meter today and did the control test. Then I continued reading the instructions and found I should have marked this as control. As it was 12.2 it's going to make the rest of my readings looked skewed. Is there anyway to go back and delete this or amend it to read "control" My...

    Porridge for breakfast

Is there any breakfast cereal which is low carb?

Doc said no to self testing ...

Interesting to hear what your dr said. I hope I get on better with the diabetic nurse - still two weeks to go.

    Confused

I know how you feel Debzz. My Dr told me on 21st Feb that I was diabetic and needed to see the diabetic nurse, but the next appointment I could have is 24th March. After I went away and felt depressed for a few days I pulled my socks up and got on the internet. I have been following a lchf...
