I like the Diablo coconut cookies, in moderation. No bad side effects. I especially like Ricola herbal sweets with stevia.

Freezing bread then toasting it to lower GI?

Here is an update to my post asking if freezing bread then toasting it lowers its GI. By no means my suggestion on what others should do, and I still don't have a glucose monitor, so I can't definitively say how I react to frozen then toasted sourdough bread. BUT my HbA1c result today is...

Freezing bread then toasting it to lower GI?

I found your 'freeze it, toast it, then don't eat it' reply slightly amusing, but a little more than slightly hostile. This is meant to be a LOW carb discussion and you sounded like the NO carb police. I don't want to go on a carnivore diet for various reasons, therefore must take carb counting...

Freezing bread then toasting it to lower GI?

I've read that freezing bread then toasting it lowers its GI. I don't yet have a glucose monitor to test its effect, and would appreciate feedback from anyone who's tried it. I'm working on reducing my carbs and A1c on 16/8 intermittent fasting, but not inclined to go very low or carb free. So...

    A1c and medication

When my A1c was 88, my GP wanted to increase Metformin to 2 times two 500 tablets per day. I didn't want to, as that was the max, according to Google search, so she added dapagliflazin to my 3 Metformin per day. It didn't bring down my A1c. What did was an emergency, which caused me to look...

What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Another fan of Lindt Excellence 90% Cocoa Chocolate. I'll also go for their 85%. If only they would do a high-cocoa low-sugar version of their Lindor.

Hi my doctor has told me i dont need to test my glucose levels as i am on metformin? I dont feel this is helpful though?

Well said. The same applies for a lot of preventative health care. Just consider the beneficial effects of the anti-smoking campaign. Why not a similar campaign on junk food?

Hi my doctor has told me i dont need to test my glucose levels as i am on metformin? I dont feel this is helpful though?

I got the same advice. I followed it for years, until recently major surgery was cancelled because of my high A1c. I'm now on a mission to lower it. I think the NHS needs to re-examine its policy on Type 2 diabetes.

Has anyone gone from long-standing Type 2 diabetes - say 20 years - to remission/ reversal?

Okay, so I've been a slow learner. I didn't realise how serious my diabetes was. Of course, in the end my idiocy, but GP practice reported nothing alarming apart from my A1c blood glucose at times very high, and high BP and cholesterol. But my father had high cholesterol and died age 95 after a...

    Which blood glucose monitor?

I'm looking for a blood glucose meter to help control my Type 2 diabetes, something simple to use, but accurate. I've noted Betachek C50 has an integrated lancing and 50-test cassette. Does this make it simpler to use? Anyone have experience of it, or any suggestions? I've never used one before...

    Sourdough Bread And Diabetes

I have long-standing T2 diabetes, but I've only been really trying to manage it for the past few months. I've always preferred sourdough bread anyway. Now I'm going for the real artisan bread. Yet to test its impact - my doctor said only Type 1 had to - but I intend to, and will post on it.

Just joined, but long-standing T2 diabetic

I've been a Type 2 diabetic for many years, without really understanding the implications. According to my BMI, I've never been obese, or even very overweight. No side-effects were diagnosed - although I did have them - so I gave up sugar and otherwise let it slide. It was only when surgery was...
