Some interesting comments from the article ... The 2011 Hunt 2 study, one of the most recent and largest, followed 52,000 men and women in Norway aged 20-74 with no pre-existing heart disease, for 10 years. The results for women were crystal clear. The lower a woman’s total cholesterol, the...

The Fallacy of Average: How Using HbA1c Alone to Assess Glycemic Control Can Be Misleading

I saw an article the other day where it said that high glucose levels don’t raise HbA1C levels if the glucose spike is short. So you can have the same HbA1C where glucose is always in range and where there are short term glucose spikes with hypers and hypos. HbA1C does give a good idea of where...

    Why me?...

When your blood glucose level drop the body produces cortisol which can make you cranky. This is one side effect of a high carb diet where glucose levels rise and fall quickly. You may like to tweak your diet so that levels are more stable.

    Statins Again

Statins have virtualy zero benefit in terms of making you live longer. They are a huge multi billion dollar con by the pharmaceutical companies. Cholesterol is not a problem. Inflamation is. Goodbye

There are a lot of benefits for people with type 2 by having a low carb diet. My blood sugars have dropped to almost non-diabetic levels as a result of dropping high carb foods from my diet. The problem is that many people are fixated with average blood sugar levels rather than being concerned...

    Anti-LCHF Screed

I am a vegetarian and eat a low carb diet. You don't need to eat meat to be on a LCHF diet. There are many evangelists who claim certain diets can "cure" diabetes. It appears that the LCHF and Newcastle Diets seem to produce good results as exhibited in the Success Stories on this forum. Other...

    Metformin or not?

At my review with the diabetes nurse last May we agreed for me to stop taking metformin. Before that time I was taking 1x500Mg a day, having dropped from 2 to 1 a day in Feb after my HbA1C had dropped from 99 to 59. My HbA1C was 43 in Sept, so lower than May even without Metformin.

    10 months on

Some people can’t tolerate metformin. The choice then is either get prescribed another type 2 medication, or eat a low carb diet. A low carb diet is much more effective in reducing blood sugars than metformin. High carb foods are very addictive and it does require some determination and...
