    Cracked 640g pump

Thanks @Juicyj, it was a bit of a panic when I couldn't get through to Medtronic but feel much better now that it's at least in their system! I'll get all my settings written down ready, thanks for the reminder :)

    Cracked 640g pump

Ok stress over, spoke to Medtronic in the US and will be getting a replacement pump sent. Now to try and work out what to do with injection amounts and timings :arghh:

    Cracked 640g pump

I've just noticed that the back of my pump is cracked and I can't get through to anyone at Medtronic (after going through the menu options it tells me that they are open business days until 6pm, then tells me to hang up) From a quick google I see that it affects the waterproofing but I'm...

    Freestyle Libre

These are the ketone test strips I get on prescription https://freestylediabetes.co.uk/our-products/testing-strips/freestyle-optium-ketone-test-strips, it says they are compatible with the freestyle libre system. I haven't tried them though!

    Sensor

@Antje77 thanks, I'm just a bit apprehensive about trying it! I didn't even know my funding had been approved until last week when I got a phone call telling me the libre training (that I knew nothing about!) was cancelled  I'm going to go for it, but maybe order some tegaderm patches to...

    Sensor

I just received my libre starter pack and found the choices available for patches/covers etc very overwhelming, I'm not sure whether to just go for it and see how well it stays on by itself or put something over it right from the start. I'll be taking notes of recommendations anyway :D

If I were you, I'd definitely tell your employers about your concerns. Perhaps they need reminding you're in a higher risk group. I don't work at the moment, but at my old job it was astonishing the number of times I had to remind them I have diabetes, to be met with an "oh goodness, I...

    Basel dose when sick?

Hi @chrissyrobbo, do you inject your insulin or do you use a pump? If you inject I think it might depend on your basal insulin, I can't pretend I know much about it, but I believe different ones take different amounts of time for changes to take affect, so it would also depend on how long you...

    High BG after set change.

Ah that's quite the puzzle then. Do you think it's the adrenaline? Do you get symptoms that suggest that's what it is, sweating, shaking, anything like that? Could you try inserting the new cannula before you change the reservoir etc and see if that makes a difference? So you'll have the cannula...

    Type 1 Fake hypo?

Have you double-checked your blood? If I get a reading that seems way off I give my hands a good wash and do another test. I have had times when I'm convinced I'm hypo but after testing, I'm way off! I find it passes fairly quickly, I think all you can do is wait it out. Hope you feel better...

    High BG after set change.

Hi @Bobr17, are you taking a long time to change your set? When you say you rid the tube of bubbles and fill 2 units of insulin, I'm not sure what you mean, when I fill the tubing it takes 5-6 units for the 60cm tubing, I don't recall exactly (I accidently ordered 80cm tubing last time and that...

    10.9 2 hours after dinner

I'm surprised you aren't higher than 10.9 after pasta and honey. I rarely eat pasta as it's too problematic for me. Edited to say, I'm type 1 and so take insulin but it's still too problematic!

COVID-19: are you wearing a mask?

I'm not going out, so no need for a mask. My mum made me a fabric mask that I will use if I need to go out though.

    New to Insulin

These are good for pen needles https://www.bd.com/en-us/offerings/capabilities/diabetes-care/sharps-containment-at-home/bd-safe-clip-needle-clipping-and-storage-device I've had them on prescription before. They're no good for lancets though.

Underactive thyroid - how difficult is this to diagnose?

Hi @Peppergirl, I started taking levothyroxine in January, my thyroid function test came back as abnormal last year but as I didn't have any "obvious symptoms" I was given the option to try medication or leave it and see if anything changed. My serum TSH had decreased this time but I was cold...

    1st diaversary coming up

You could have a small piece of cake. Back when I was on fixed doses I was told the best cakey thing to eat was a cream eclair, but I must admit I have no idea how many carbs are in an eclair, back when I used to eat them I wasn't carb counting and now I'm lactose intolerant so it's a loooooong...
