Hi,

I've been type 2 for probably over ten years and my drugs have become ineffective so this week i've started insulin, eight units a night for the first three nights and last night ten, my morning sugar reading is coming down.

I've been provided with a new Roche AccuChek meter, which is a big improvement on the old one, but my question relates to the Humulin Pen, what do people so with their sharps when travelling, I cannot carry the 7 litre sharps bin with me.

Thanks

One problem I have had is the old sharps bin opening is too small for the pen syringe, so Ive had to open it up a bit, when I mentioned it to the nurse he arranged for the massive 7 l bin to be sent out.

Amazon do a travel size needle sharps disposable container which holds 24 needles , test strips , and lancets for £14.95.I myself carry what I need for the day in a hard glasses case then every night put all the left overs in a glass, and at the end of my travels they all fit into my glasses case to be transferred into my home sharps when I get home.

If you are talking about the disposable pens, they don't need to go in a sharps bin - the needles obviously do but the plastic pens don't, it can just go in with the normal rubbish.

I meant the syringe bit, I’m going to order a BD Clip.

thanks
