I've just received my latest blood test results...

Just been to the doc: he thinks I'm borderline. I have a HbA1c to do now and another in 3 months. In 3 months we'll see whether I'll be able to manage it myself with diet or whether treatment is required. Voilà. I showed him my readings and he didn't look massively alarmed.

First day's results with new monitor

Tried a pizza last night (in the interests of science, you understand...) and the numbers are suddenly not so good: from 6 to 10.9 after 2 hours and 12.1 after 3 hours. Then 8 this morning. Ouch!!!!!!

First day's results with new monitor

Hi WexTom, I'm new to this, so I'm not sure that I can be of much help apart from suggesting that it's possibly Dawn Phenomenon?

What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

I have trouble choking down my veg and my vegetable "repertoire" is pretty restricted. I'm constantly on the look out for the best ways to cook veg. Think that's half the battle - cooking them properly! Maybe we need a veg-dodgers' forum ;-)

What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Lunch: Yesterday's pizza muffins with last weekend's peppers in oregano (reheated with a bit of olive oil stirred through). Mandarin orange.

What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Made these yesterday, they're really good! I had to use chorizo instead of peperoni (I got a whole chorizo and cut it into small cubes), which worked fine. And I used normal milk in place of almond.

I've continued this on the Blood Glucose Monitoring forum, as I guess it's better there.

First day's results with new monitor

Hi, I'm expecting a diagnosis of type 2 diabetes following an initial fasting blood glucose lab test result of 8.44 and in the run-up to my next doctor's appointment I've started to test. The meter arrived yesterday. Here are the results (tests taken before eating and 2 hours afterwards)...

I've just received my latest blood test results...

Ok, just tested two hours after porridge with whole milk and a tablespoon of strawberry jam: 6.9 mmol. Wut? Edit: saying that, I didn't change the lancet from the last time. I'll change it, just to be sure Re-edit: lancet changed but still the same reading. I have a feeling that this is going...

I've just received my latest blood test results...

Hi, thanks for your encouragement, it's really nice to read! I've understood that the post-meal reading shouldn't be 2 mmols more than the pre-meal reading? Or I shouldn't go over 8.5 mmols? It's a great feeling to be in control though, even if the BS isn't controlled I do feel "in control", so...

I've just received my latest blood test results...

Just did a test and got a pre-brekkie reading of 7.0 mmol. But that's on top of a coffee with cream (drunk before the parcel arrived). Will prepare a bowl of porridge now and test after...

I've just received my latest blood test results...

The meter has just arrived (that was quick given I only ordered it on Saturday)! Too late for a morning reading, but I'll start with my next meal.

What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

One more post before I stop hogging the thread: have you tried an Alsatian dish which involves slicing "cervelas" (maybe saveloy?? or some kind of fat processed sausages) sausages down the middle, adding cheese (processed stuff is good for that "junk" factor), and then wrapping in bacon? Google...

What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

I'm pretty new to those sorts of veg. I know husband once made a gratin with spaghetti squash, cream, nutmeg, cheese and maybe a bit of bacon. Might have to do that again soon...

What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

If it's useful for anyone, the coconut, chicken and pumpkin dish I made yesterday was nice. I was in "use up leftovers" mode so don't have an exact recipe but it went something like this: I heated some chicken fat from the previous day's roast and fried some onion and garlic. Then I added 500 g...

    LCHF and depression

Thanks for your encouragement :-) My husband is bigger than I am but has no HBP or high BS. It really does depend on the individual. I've been encouraging him to take better care of himself but at the end of the day it's his decision. Now he's sick I give him the food he wants but cut the...

    LCHF and depression

I haven't taken the pill for a couple of days now, good riddance ;-) My weight has been stable for the past few years, although I must be at least 40lbs overweight... I think about 3-4lbs have come off in the past 2 weeks or so on LCHF, so that's encouraging. My face and waist feel a bit...
