Arguments for having a pump prescribed

I'd been diagnosed for 20yrs before I was offered a pump, and I suspect it was because my diabetes was getting more complicated. I had read about them but didn't want one, but my professor said I needed it. Did the DAFNE course, but the nurse who led it ended up saying I knew what I was doing...

    Ankle Swelling

No never found out why my ankles are swelling, but they've decided by themselves that they no longer want to swell up. they just stopped one day during the lockdown 1, and have not swollen up since. sorry for not being of more help, I did have some heart tests to see if that was a cause of the...

Covid vaccine and T1D, what are your views?

I'll be getting the vaccine as soon as I'm offered it, due in part to my sister getting Covid and having a stroke from getting it (Covid is known to thicken the blood and can, does cause you to have a stroke) and my friend, no underlying health conditions and supremely fit, ended up in intensive...

    Infusion Sets Issue

Hi @Rokaab the blood when removing the cannula is where you have clipped a blood capillary and bleeds what looks like a pint, have you thought about a metal cannula? I am on a Medtronic 640G and the MIO infusion set, 8mm cannula if memory serves me right, and had a spell of it stinging but...

    Laser treatment for Retinopathy

I've been treated for Proliferative Retinopathy in both eyes and have received lots of laser treatment (around 9 lots) and this has controlled the size and spread of the new vessels. I have only had a couple of micro bleeds and am now stable. the problem can get worse before it gets better and...

T1D need help with weight gain

if you are finding it difficult to get the food in, do a few days food prep on the weekend, its what I used to do cook my fish, chicken and steak with my veggies and box them up into daily meals. it does make things easier and then you can add in the protein powders/shakes or smoothies.

T1D need help with weight gain

if you want to put on weight for training or changing your body eat 4-6 meals a day. high protein and fats with some carbs. in principle it sounds easy to do is difficult. if you cant eat vast amounts of food, then get yourself a protein/carb powder to add in between your food intake. 30g of...

Don’t you just hate it when people think diabetes is easy

To be fair it would be very unusual for anyone who doesn't have diabetes to understand what it entails as they don't live with it on a daily basis. I only get vexed when people assume that everyone with diabetes is a Type 2, overweight, unfit and I quote "It's your own fault, because you eat...

What to disclose and who to?

If you are confirmed as having a stroke, then you will not be permitted to drive for a minimum of four weeks. if like my hospital they give you a letter informing you of that. as for the DVLA if not on glucose reducing medication then you don't have to, but I would inform your insurance company...
