My codefree reads lower than my glucomen which I now only use for ketones. Sticking with the codefree because my blood sugars are lower. yours faithfully head in the sand :-)

Under 20g of carbs a day????

Once you have been in Keto for a while you do not consider your diet restrictive more a diet of liberation. liberated from the confines of medication and illness. I do however take your point.

Under 20g of carbs a day????

I had 3 sausages this morning and they came to 3g carbs total. I did under 20g for nearly a year and it was fairly easy. having said that I accept if you eat fruit and high carb sausages you may have a different opinion.

    Fry or use George Forman

From memory black farmer sausages are 1 carb per sausage and lidl outdoor reared (i think the delux range) are 2 carbs per sausage.

    Diabetic Teams

The diabetic team to me are of no use whatsoever and in fact would be detrimental if they are pushing low fat hi carbs. in order for me to get my bloods done I was constantly arguing regarding not having statins and having what they class as high cholesterol and therefore a life threatening diet...

    Ketostix

Morning is a good time however if you have been in keto for longer than a few months it may not show as your body becomes better at using the fats and therefore they are not lost in urine. Testing for ketones in your blood is far better once fat adapted. I suppose what i'm saying is don't think...

    Food and our Meters

There's also no 'proper, independent, well researched evidence' that reducing cholesterol protects against heart attack but they seem to have run with that one so I don't accept your assertion that the NHS always makes evidence based decisions.

did exercise help you in any way terms of health

I go to the gym to do weights. it absolutely has helped me reduce my insulin resistance. The gym is probably not great for weight loss but not everything is about losing weight. Feeling good is a great thing.

    Food and our Meters

I think there is a huge training issue here both with the diabetic nurses (NHS) and of course the newly diagnosed diabetic. I am absolutely adamant that if when diagnosed I spent a day being trained on the potential implications of failing to control my blood sugars and how relatively easy it is...

    HbA1c

Good effort.....mines due but I'm giving it another month as I have a sneaking suspicion all the crimbo booze will have pushed up my triglycerides.

    Statins and type 1

Statins have the potential for very serious side effects in some people. your consultant must have shares in a pharmaceutical company, I can think of no other reason for his recommendation of statins.

    Blood test results

Your total Cholesterol looks fine but that is irrelevant because:- your triglycerides are very high at 2.6 you want this number closer to 1. your HDL is a little low at 0.9 you would want this to be closer to 1.5 and above. LDL looks good to me if and when you improve the other numbers. Hba1c is...

    Statins and type 1

My statin was only 10mg..........If his cholesterol is 'quite low' then surely your doctor should be working on increasing the cholesterol to help improve memory function.

    Statins and type 1

When I took them for many years I ended feeling very unwell. tired all the time, no energy, problems with memory and aching all over. I put this down to aging (i'm 51) however once I read memory issues where a problem with statins I ditched them. I can honestly tell you I feel like I did when I...

I'm pretty sure in the UK as long as you are diet controlled or only on oral meds then there is no need to declare

Mine were like that for about a year even LCHF then they suddenly dropped to the 5s literally overnight and have pretty much stayed there.
