    Injecting in public

    I have had Type 1 for 49 years so you can imagine how many injections I have had. Not once has anyone ever said anything or glared at me when I have had an injection. Maybe it's because I don't care what people think.

    Annoyed

    Good job they check your HBA1C not your daily levels. I get white coat syndrome when I have my blood pressure checked. I have even had to wear a monitor for 24 hours. All fine.

    Refused blood sticks by GP (Type 1)

    Type 1 Diabetics cost hardly any money to treat because we test are blood and adjust our insulin requirements accordingly to stay alive. We did not do anything to instigate Type 1 Diabetes.     I have had Type 1 for 49 years diagnosed at 6. All the things the nurse said your daughter can do I have done, except tattoos I have 3 healthy handsome sons. No problems I have used DAFNE since diagnosis in 1967. Dose adjustment for Normal Eating.

    He is only a baby you should be having advice from his Consultant or Paediatric Nurse at the hospital. Or the Health Visitor because you need guidance with someone so young having Type 1 Diabetes.

    Can conjunctivitis mess with sugar levels?

    You should go to your optician they are very good with Type 1 Diabetics. I have dry sensitive eyes. The Optician prescribed what was required and my GP wrote the prescription. I now get all my insulin etc on repeat. I order online which is great. I then collect 3 days later.

    A little bit of what you fancy won't hurt you. It's not as if your levels are always high. I know 2 people who runs their levels at 30. That is high.

    At what sugar level would you fall into a coma?

    I had no warnings when I was going hypo. Changed my regime 4 years ago let my sugars run slightly higher and now I have warnings. Feeling so much better had my HBA1C today 6.3 Doctor pleased. So am I. Type 1 for 48 years.

    Living with someone who is trying to cope with type 1

    Tell him to use DAFNE so easy to use he can eat like you. DAFNE is fab for Type 1 Diabetics. I have had it for 48 years.

    What's your Diabetes story? (How did you find out you were diabetic?)

    I was ill from birth and the consultant accused my mother of being an over protective mother. I was really ill and GP diagnosed Type 1 Diabetes rushed to hospital in a coma. Nearly died. I was 6 years old. Kept in hospital for a long time. I have had Type 1 for 48 years. Diagnosed in 1967.
