If you like baking there are sweet things you can make with sugar substitutes.
If your dad is gonna reach for cakes and biscuits then home baking is the lesser of the evils.
I love making Bounty balls as a treat!
There are recipes on the forum and you can choose what suits you.

It's pretty accurate and can measure carbs in say different types of subway
salad. You can also scan barcodes for number of carbs at the supermarket or type the product name in.
I've found it an invaluable tool in getting good control.

Low carb breakfasts;
Boiled, poached, fried, scrambled egg.
Omelettes made to your own taste.
Greek/natural yoghurt - I add frozen blueberries the night before but any berries can be used or none if you prefer.

I turned down an offer of an appointment with a dietician.
I simply followed the advice of the posters who have readings in the non-diabetic range and who low carb.
I am now one of them.

6.3 is a pretty good reading!!
Well done. Try to do a bit of exercise as that will keep you calm and stop your mind racing.
Good luck.

I don't understand how the OGTT would show me to be worse than I am if I'm low carbing?
I felt like the high carbing was giving me high blood sugars?

It went the other way! I was 10.2 after 90 mins but ran out of testing strips!!
Gone straight back to low carb after 5-6 days of bad diet for the OGTT's.
Felt bloated too with the changed diet.
I'm going to ask the Dr for an OGTT in a few weeks. Will I be asked to high carb? It's awful...
